I am six feet two inches of rippling muscle, wavy blond hair, sparkling wit and two-fisted defense of Family Values and the American way of life. (I did say that I write fantasy fiction, didn't I?) Addendum for the benefit of the humorless and/or brain-dead - The above was meant to be satirical. The parenthetical (that's the part between the curved vertical lines) should have alerted you to that intent.

Frank McCourt - Writing About Poverty Time 4:22

"You have to study and learn so that you can make up your own mind about history and everything else but you can’t make up an empty mind. Stock your mind, stock your mind. It is your house of treasure and no one in the world can interfere with it."

Did a grad school paper on family developmental stages using Angela's Ashes. He's a fantastic writer.
Thanks again, Wayne. Another excellent video and post.
I absolutely totally love Frank McCourt and have devoured every book of his. He is a joy to listen to in his audiobooks. Thanks for this and yeaterdays posts on writing. You have picked two of my you like Isaac Asimov, too???
I like the quote under the interview - reminds me of something Stephen King said, to the effect of "if you don't have time to read, then you wont' have the tools to write."
Merwoman - so you already knew was a great talent he is.
Michael - It is my privilege to bring them to you.
odette - me too. it's fun digging them up. I listen to each one.
CBerg - I've not listened to his audiobooks, guess I'll check the library.
- and yes, I do indeed love Asimov's work.
sandra-nlm - reading is paramount -how could anyone hold forth as a student of modern history who hadn't read Mein Kampf and Das Kapital? You even should read the crap, if only to see how it's not done.
McCort is great. If you've only read the print version of Angela's Ashes, you have to listen to the audio version with McCort narrating.
