Foodie Tuesday: Lazy Supper

Really, I only get away with this once in a blue moon, but the builders were here and that wreaks havoc with my nerves, so today there is a blue moon.
 
You need: Fried camembert  (I get mine from Gert-Jan, my deep-freeze guy and just warm them up in the oven) 1 per person
 
Anything you fancy on a salad. Tonight it will be a little rucola, a little iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, Turkish peppers,
cukes, a bit of zucchini (probably stirfried with onion), getting to be overripe avocados and maybe some pecans or cashews ...kitchen sink, chef special, clean out the fridge
 
Cranberry sauce or plum jam or something like that--a dollop over the fried camembert will do. 
 
Rosti (also from Gert -Jan) 1 per person
 
Put camembertjes in the oven for 15-20 minutes.
 
In the meantime, make the salad. Decide which dressing you like. I always use oil and balsamico, but if you like Catalina, go ahead, knock yourself out. Don't put dressing on the salad until it is on the individual plate.
 
Fry the rostis in a heavy skillet.
 
Time it so that the camembert and rosti are  ready at the same time.
 
Dish up salad on individual plates. Toss on a bit of dressing.
Put rosti on plate
Put camembert on plate
Garnish camembert with jam or cranberry sauce
Serve with a nice little Riesling. 
 
I skipped the Riesling because I have to go to yoga class.

Jls - Thanks for the tip! No, these are just potato rostis--I'm going to add bacon next time and see how that turns out.

Icyhighs - It was tasty for a slap up meal. I'm really just a foodie who's not too fond of fussy cooking.
V. Corso, if this is just a Lazy Supper, think on what your Sunday and holiday dinner must be. You must invite me for dinner, if we ever meet. This is art cooking and you made me hungry. Excellent, rated with thank you for sharing!!!

James - Camembert is French cheese. Its kind of like brie. Because it has an edible rind, you can bread it and fry it. This is a royal pain in the backside, so I get ready made camembertjes from Gert-Jan.

Gert-Jan is my deep-freeze guy. He delivers my frozen groceries in a groovy little truck.

I like to use fresh fruit and veg but sometimes its a bad hair day and you can't make it to the greengrocer so I keep stringbeans, lima beans, broccolli florets etc. on hand in the deep freezer. Some of the pre-prepped food, like the camemberts and the salmon in puff pastry is okay too. The ice-cream is out of this world (I'm told. I don't like ice-cream).

Yoga was great. I'm sat-nam ready to fall into bed now.
Like my buddy James, I had to look up camembert, to find out it is a cheese. I'm just an ole country boy who likes a little meat with his cheese!
