Foodie Tuesday: I Need to Eat More "Good" Calories

Rate: 10 Flag

Fabian, the gym owner handed me my monthly readout. The centimeters are going down nicely, but my weight-loss isn't what it could be.

“Are you eating enough?” he asked, “do you know how many calories you need per day to burn fat?”

“1000?” I guessed.

Fabian told me I need 2000 – and that the ones from wine don't count apparently. Dang!

So today I've been eating for the Lowlands. I am a champion eater. All good stuff, mind. I didn't touch the Reese's Peanut Butter Cups that are calling to me like the Lorelei. I left the Turkish Fruit in the goodie drawer, stopped myself from pouring a fully leaded coke to enjoy with my sushi lunch and had unsweetened iced tea instead. Sugar is the enemy.

So now I have to think up some healthy snacks to get me through until dinner.

One of my favorites is celery and peanutbutter. I was shocked to find how many people have never heard of this delicacy, so I am doing my best to spread the word:

You need:

SkippyNaturalPeanutButter

 AND

 Celery

Chop off the leafy bits at end of the stalks of celery and the semi-grotty bits at the other. Wash celery and dab it dry.

Load up a butter knife with peanutbutter.

Spread into groove of celery.

Chop celery into almost bite-sized pieces.

i had lots of celery growing up. some of it was dipped in
peanut butter, but alot of it was just munched
with the "carrots and celery" snack pack
in the fridge. the chewing is the key.
chew and chew yer celery down.
your tummy thinks it is full.
ha. it is fulla celery.
good trick to play
on the TRUE ENEMY,
not sugar, but the Stomach.

centimeters? whaaat is a centimeter/ ?
here in the civilized world we measure by inches.
oh, u are a foreigner,,i remember.
from the netherlands.
damn metric system
is perhaps the
problem?
probably not, i am just silly..

they told me, in kindergarten, ya gotta learn this metric system
cuz in 20 years it will be universal.
hm. wrong again.
can you trust a
1.guy named fabian
2.guy who believes in the supremacy of this metric system?

hope my comments help.
V. Corso , I like peanut butter and I will try your recipe. This reminded me of Barry Goldwater (American Politician and Senator, 1909-1998)

“If you don't mind smelling like peanut butter for two or three days, peanut butter is darn good shaving cream.”

Rated.
I like that you use the natural peanut butter. You'd be surprised how many won't use it just because they have to mix the oil back in. Wonder how it would go on a cupcake?

I just had a deja vu...
Peanutbutter buttercream icing on a double chocolate cupcake?
Celery also great with warm Brie, Ricotto or Pimento cheese!!! MMMMmmmmm!
YUM! I love celery and PB! I better get outta here, exercise, then come home and eat healthfully. Mein kampf. :-)
That sounds really good. I like the brie idea too.
Heck, peanut butter even manages to me cheese spread taste good!
;-)
.
Yoiks! That should read......

Heck, celery even manages to make cheese spread taste good....!
.
I'd like to advocate for apple slices and peanut butter. (Actually just about any damn thing tastes a little better with peanut butter...)
Yum! A longtime favorite!
Another really good combo is jicama dipped in peanut butter/almond butter. Yum!
:)

I need to speak with Fabian My computer program Fitness Pal .com says that I need much less. In fact, I would have to do at least 50 minutes of serious cardio to get to 1700 calories.
V, that sounds about right. Maybe we could use pnut butter for half of the butter in the buttercream. This needs experimentation.
