Have you ever gone to the polls, looked at the list of people you were going to vote for and thought to yourself;
I don't like any of these sunzabitches!!
It's times like these that I wish I was a party loyalist. With no thought beyond recognising the (R) (D) you can vote party line and walk out in mere moments. Heck, here in PA, they line them up so all you have to do is click 1 (R) or 1 (D) and not even have to look at the names.
But I just can't, I just can't.
Clinton drove me from the DNC and Bush made me flee the RNC.
I'm still a registered Rep, if you are not a member of the (R) or (D) here in PA you don't get to vote in the primaries. (nice huh. Independents had thier right to vote removed.)
So here I am, with a long list of names. All boasting they created jobs, all saying the other is lying and lost jobs. All saying they can or did lower the debt, all saying the other is lying. on and on and on andonandonandon....
Makes me not want to vote.
But I consider my right to vote a duty. But don't we also have the duty to vote for who we not just feel will do the best job, but also know?
So how do you know? answer; YA DON'T
So do you vote for the person that's not as big a jackass as the other people? answer; Yeah, ya do. (sucks, doesn't it)
So I demand the right to ANTI-VOTE!!
Imagine the endless joy of voting AGAINST some one. Think about it. You're tired of being a party hack, you don't want to vote for your guy, but you can't bring yourself to vote for the other guy or the 3rd guy. So you TAKE a vote away from the worst guy.
Most people on OS are liberals, so I will put this in a more personnal way.
Imagine the joy you would have had during the last election of literally punching in an anti-vote for McCain/Palin. I'm talking about leaning WAY back on dropping the elbow smash right down on top of him. Or did tapping Obama give you more joy?
You getting all weepy just thinking about it?

if they get enough of these emails, you can vote for ideas you like, and against ideas you don't like. it's a great idea, called 'democracy.'
Well I'm glad to see you think it's not horrible. That' puts it just below "Not bad".]
Sarah,
You couldn't even register?! That blows. You'd think that would fall under the right to flip the bird, uhm Freed speech
al,
You typed that last word to fast.

I like that idea, maybe we should give that a try.
The most interesting result of the system you suggest would be the likely prospect of the winner of an election having a negative number of votes, just not as deeply negative as the count for (well, against) his/her opponent.
I can't say I personally feel weepy about voting for or against anyone these days. But I do occasionally get weepy when I think about the future of our country.
yea. Just saying.
However, in my opinion, Obama has provided a mandate to vote, perhaps not for, but certainly against. Of course some of the Republican candidates are unworthy of enthusiastic support. We vote for them not as potential legislators or leaders, but rather as voting machines to halt or at least slow down the morbid policies of Obama and his gang of collectivists.
Anyone with a memory of the glory of America cannot anti-vote. In other times, it might be an acceptable course, but not now.
I see it as my duty not to vote to show my true contempt for the system. Imagine if no one showed to to vote, that would be a wonderful thing, like a great big middle finger.
