Rhododendron macrophyllum is the State Flower of Washington
I suppose one of the benefits to all of our rain is the beauty when the flowers bloom.

They can grow to be quite tall.

Here is a particularly beautiful one in my yard.

Which I then put in my scanner. A technique I learned from Algis’ blog.
But I certainly have a lot more practicing to do. It was an interesting experiment, however.

Happy Sunday

I spread my arms, I make one resonant sound. What luck, to stand in the midst of these.
I love the one in your yard
the color in the center of all the white
is similar to the color of my hair
The last scanner photo is wonderful

TY TY for the show.

What stunning photographs!
So are the flowers!!!!
(gotcha) LOL
I can imagine that huge smile on Algis' face! I think I can see it from here!
The colors are fantastic!
Am trying to become more adept with my scanner. Need to get back to it. We lost most of our blossoms in the rain. They were early this year.
Even better viewed on a dreary Monday morning.
Liz: You must mean tulips!! (ha)
I once had the great pleasure of visiting England (Pacific NW type climate!) in rhododendron season - a whole estate with huge plants like little hills. I tried planting one here, not rhododendron territory. I'm trying again this year, with some kind of supposedly hardy variety. Wish me luck.
Guess I was there too late in the year to view the rhododendrons, however. Wish I'd been allowed to see such a lovely spectacle.
Peace to you
