“Songs to aging children come
Aging children, I am one"
Joni Mitchell
A child of six
…..innocence
The world is alive
…..possibilities
butterflies…and bugs
Sixteen
innocence (not so much)
But possibilities still.
The crowd smoking pot in the park
The guy wanting into your pants after dark
Possibilities
abound
Twenty-six
Teenage angst turns to grown up things
there’s rent to pay - It’s not all play –
got to get a stinking job
with that Philosophy major?
What was I thinking?
Remember how we couldn’t wait to be older?
All grown up like mom and dad.
No boundaries no rules
Masters of our own destinies
The world is our oyster
The canvass is clean
Possibilities
abound .
Ahhh. Adulthood.

"...his dreams have lost some grandeur
coming true --
There'll be new dreams, maybe better dreams,
and plenty,
Before the last revolving year is through."
PS: I was a smart one. I only *minored* in philosophy. I majored in journalism--at a time when everyone wanted to be Woodward and Bernstein. Actually, it might have been easier to get a job with a philosophy degree...
To me your avatar symbolizes how I feel about getting older. I'm with Tom - love is wasted on the young. If a obtaining a degree in the mistakes of youth were possible, I'd be a PhD.
Getting old...er? Bring it on!
What was I thinking?"
I'm not sure--- but the good news is---it is the "thinking" major.
Two days ago, I raised a glass to one of our fellow Caps---she of the alternative ending. She would have/should have been turing a year younger than me.
Here's to many more trips around the sun together, Tril.
that You couldn't write like this.

The sad thing is, I remember being a child and thinking anyone over 30 was old. I also remember wanting to be a grown-up--what the hell was I thinking????
