2012 is shaping up to be an amazing year for Grammy Award winning guitarist Slash. He closed out 2011 riding high on the success of his landmark, self-titled debut album which managed to take the Billboard top spot for Rock Album, Hard Rock Album and Independent Album as well as the #3 spot in the Top 200. He also joined Ozzy Osbourne on the Scream tour. Read the Slash Ozzy Osbourne Scream Concert Review.
On April 14th Slash will be joined by the other original members of Guns N Roses for a live performance during their induction into the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.
With several successful projects under his belt, including Velvet Revolver, Slash's Snakepit and his widely acclaimed debut release, Slash recently released the album cover art for his forth-coming follow-up release, Apocalyptic Love.
Apocalyptic Love, which features Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators, is set to hit the streets on May 22, 2012. The band will be hitting the tour circuit as well as several major music festivals in support of the album.
The first single from Slash's forthcoming Apocalyptic Love, "You’re A Lie," hit rock radio hard--like a punch to the face--on February 27th. Two days later it was officially declared the #1 most added song on active rock radio stations across the US.
I had the pleasure of reviewing Alter Bridge with Avenged Sevenfold and Seether and I had written that Myles Kennedy is "An absolutely mind-blowing hard rock musician and vocalist."
Prior to that in my concert reviews of Slash and Myles Kennedy on The Scream Tour with Ozzy Osbourne for Seattle.pi and Blogcritics I had said "Slash and Myles Kennedy were absolutely incredible together; a powerhouse of pile-driving, ass-kicking rock and roll."
On my Technorati and National Music History Examiner reviews I had written, "They were undeniably meant to play together. The chemistry between these two awesome artists would prove to be the glue that held the entire set together; Slash's incredible, gut-wrenching guitar playing and Myles Kennedy's powerful, versatile vocals were absolutely mind-blowing." One listen to "You're A Lie" and I think my point is proven.
