Yes, cliches are trite. They devalue the originality of thoughts.

Yet, as a layman, I succumb to cliches in moments like this: It's hard to say goodbye.

It's true that I've never met you, other than via email or public displays of opinion. However, each word you wrote has been like a piece to a big mosaic in progress. I got the sense of who you were from reading your sentences.

You've all been very kind, very courageous and very eloquent. Despite the barrier of geography and laptop screens, I sense your warm sentiment.
