I'm sure everyone's seen Judy Berman's post about how they've fixed the feed issue. I've been one of the people who have been asking, why isn't my feed taking. It was working until last Wednesday. And I just went and loaded it and it has the latest update. But for whatever reason, Salon's having problems with it. Who knows?
It's something to be annoyed with, but not the end of the world. And now I know exactly how much of a hassle it is to work with computer systems.
I spent a couple of hours trying to get my personal blog updated to Movable Type version 5. I had to back up the old files, as well as my old database. Then I had to install of the files for the new version. I did everything that they told me to in the step by step directions.
I ran the check program, and it said that I was all set and ready to go.
So then I run the upgrade program and what happens?
It prompts me to enter my username and password, which I do. Then after it takes that, it just comes back to the same login screen. No upgrade, nothing.
I try multiple things, and finally, I just say the hell with it. I go back to my old program and it works just fine.
The problem is that I've spent a whole afternoon trying to get thing set up! What a waste of a day!
So, before you take it out on technical managers like Judy, think about what they go through on a regular basis. My issues today are what they deal with on a daily basis.
Whatever they get paid, it's not enough!
