Snatched

chin up

High up and safe from human kind

the Robin builds his nestly blind

each round a new location he

finds better than the last says she

build high the ever watchful spys

build low the crawling creature dines

c3

the heavens heave and sway and blow

and rain upon the babies so

hang on the ride will soon be done

and out will come the boiling sun

another day to grow so fast

what next must kids learn to outlast

c2

Then

"Kaw Kaw" the hunting call is heard

and from the sky comes large black bird

a hungry Crow with intellect

and partners pairing choose to peck

the fat one first see how he cries

and raises up his mouth for flies

how smart to hunt in pairs do they

for one can fool the pack away

while pluck from safety second best

the baby snatched from high up nest

c4

don't think that one is all they'll take

as four and twenty heeds the bake

and even though the call is heard

the Snatch for all and every bird

is feared and answered with debonair

attack the thief

pluck out their hair

dive bomb his wing pull at his tail

at all cost this you must not fail

Csteal1

take turns and guard your precious child

for dangers exist out in the wild

young parents first must learn the ways

if life they wish to safely raise

successful homes are built to last

hold strong

secure

and not to fast

find middle ground or rather tree

where watchful eyes can safely be

each generation now to finally see

the secret hatch of family.

Being a bird enthusiast, this piece really touched me. You captured the heartbreak of being an animal parent perfectly. R
Outstanding, as libby said. You have a wonderful knack.

I hope your baby birds are fine.
Thanks all I witnessed such a calamity this past morning. It was so sad to see how savage nature can be. Thanks. tg
Excellent.

Brilliant, tg! The imagery and the message are so in sync and get to the heart of what is important in life, family and being part of a community. Rated.
Fowl foolery here! Feather or not they make it to wing and from their branch the eggheads will sing.
In some writers' hands the words would diminish the images. Here, they only enhance.

Absolutely wonderful!

This is a marvellous allegory for life, family, and building a future on solid ground. Beautiful illustrations, tg, both verbal and visual. Highly commended.
