I just want to help you out.  I understand that you’re trying to follow in your father’s footsteps and that’s an admirable intent.  (Following in your father’s footsteps, not the actual ideals…)  But I think perhaps someone should just tell you.

Stick to the speech cards, teleprompter, whatever you use to give your sound bites, but for the love of God, please stop spewing crap from the cuff.  You’re embarrassing yourself, and to be honest, you’re making it entirely too easy for us Liberals to point out that you and your Tea Party are racist idiots. 

I mean, we enjoy talking about you sure, but make us work for it.

You say that Title II of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 violates the constitutional rights of private business, yet you’re support laws that ban abortion.  Rand, Rand, Rand… at least take a look at your platform before you start running off at the mouth.  How does that make sense?  The Government can’t tell business owners that serve the public that they have to serve the ENTIRE public, not just a select few, but women shouldn’t have the right to choose what goes on in THEIR bodies? 

Dude, really….

You say that you completely agree that public Government run businesses shouldn’t be allowed to discriminate.  We’re on the same board.  You say that if a business receives Government funding, they should be subject to the Civil Rights Act of 1964.  I’m on board.  Apparently you need to study tax laws.  Many small businesses receive money from the Government.  Whether it be from massive tax breaks to help them run, to Government grants, to Government assistance to make sure that their business is Disability friendly.

Oh wait, that’s right, you don’t like the ADA either.  Never mind. 

Look, I understand that you have to cater to your base.  I get that.  However, you just won the Primary.  That means in November you’re gonna have to beat out the Democratic candidate for the Senate seat…

Rand?  That means you’ll have to appeal to moderate Republicans too.  They do exist, even in Kentucky.  This just ain’t the way to do it Homie. 

So how do you try to make yourself look better?   You attack President Obama for criticizing BP, saying that it’s un-American. 

Tsk.  Tsk.  Tsk. 

Rand, do you know that BP stands for BRITISH Petroleum?  That means, Sir, that it’s a British Company.  A British Company drilling for oil off the shore of America.  A BRITISH Company who did not take the proper precautions prior to said drilling, and resulted in a catastrophic underwater spill that is treating the AMERICAN Coast. 

Just to recap… BP = British… Louisiana = America…  

If anything, a crazy right wing nut like yourself could call that an act of war or something!  (It’s not that either, but you know.) 

It’s not un-American to tell a company that they should take responsibility for their negligence, for their mistake, that is costing AMERICAN WORKERS millions upon millions of lost revenue and threatening to once again damage the shores of Louisiana with a man-made disaster that could possibly rival the man-made disaster of Hurricane Katrina. 

Note:  Before you try to change your statement to one of the other companies involved.  Transocean is a Swiss company, so the only thing you could change it to is Halliburton. 

Just tryin’ to help you out since your research team obviously sucks. 

See Rand, you could make tons and tons of arguments against the Federal Government about this disaster.  You could talk about the response time.  The fact that yes, while BP/Halliburton/Transocean should be responsible for financing the clean up, right now we need action to stop the damn leak that’s almost a month long.  You even attack the shady ass Federal Agency that allowed the drilling. 

But what did you do Rand?

You attacked the President on BPs behalf saying that he’s being un-American.  You had 3 companies to pick from and you picked one of the non-American companies to defend.

*sigh*

What are we gonna do with you? 

So my suggestion to you as you make your way towards the November election is this:

Stop talking. 

Make sure your talking points are valid before you open your mouth.  Make sure they make sense.  Don’t pull another Sarah Palin and blame the reporter for asking you questions.  If you’re a segregationist, at least be proud of it!  Make Daddy proud. 

For goodness sake, Rand, don’t make it so easy.  Let us work for it at least!
