In the wake of news that Michael Jackson’s death was ruled a homicide we have yet another tragedy in the music world.
Today Adam Goldstein, better known as “DJ AM” was found dead in his New York apartment. The cause of death is still pending.
Could this be another case of substance abuse gone bad? Or maybe I should say substance abuse gone worse; it’s bad to begin with. I hate to admit it, but that’s where my mind went. Any time I hear of some young celeb being found dead (Heath Ledger, Chris Farley, River Phoenix, Anna Nicole Smith) immediately I think, “overdose.” If it does turn out that drugs were involved it would be just one more in a long list of talented and influential people who have died unnecessarily.
He seemed like a nice enough guy. He was known as one of the best DJ’s around. He was also known as the ex-boyfriend of Nicole Ritchie and Mandy Moore. It is sad to think that he’s “spun his last gig” and joined the growing ranks of young stars who burned out too soon.
DJ AM had survived a plane crash a year or so ago, you may remember that one. He and Travis Barker lived, four other people died. It would be horrible if he had been granted a second chance at life only to throw it away. Perhaps the cause of death will be something completely unrelated to drugs. I’m not holding my breath, but I’ll keep my fingers crossed.

RIP DJ AM

one of my fave characters from recent years was DJ "carmen" on the Lword. man was she hot. a whole other level beyond the other lovely ladies on there. miss her. forgot her name.
this seems to fit in with the michael jackson death. new details emerging. his doctor said he was addicted to the powerful anesthetic drug, his "milk" and supposedly the doctor was trying to wean him off of it. an inadvertent drug cocktail seemed to be the cause of death based on what the doctor said.
