Pres Obama: Say THIS at your joint session of Congress

Rate: 4 Flag

President Obama: When you look out on the members of Congress on September 7, please say something like "I know that many of you want to destroy my presidency. The whole country knows it! That's politics. Yes, Sen. McConnell and Speaker Boehner, I'm talking about you. I'll play that game with you one-on-one, and we'll see who wins in 2012. I'm up to it.

But, in the meantime, don't destroy the country in the process of trying to destroy me. Don't hurt 310+ million men, women, and children all across this nation, while you're trying to make me a one-term president. Average Americans are REALLY hurting, and they look to us to get them out of the financial ditch other presidents and Congresses put them, put us, in. So, let's start putting people back to work. And then, they can decide which of us they want to rehire in 2012."

P.S. If you agree with me, please send this far and wide, to everyone you know, to all social media. Maybe, just maybe, Obama will call the tea-party/GOP bluff and move the country forward.

Normally, I hate these "advice to the president" posts...but decided to look in at what you had to say.

I'll tell you what you had to say....you said the exact right thing, that's what.

Fuckin' great idea!
Thanks, Frank! I REALLY appreciate your recommending my post to others.
You are exactly right Stephen. President Obama needs to take these Republicans on directly starting on 9/7 in his jobs speech. The Republicans want to defeat the President in 2012. They also want to cut spending programs for the working class so they can cut taxes on corporations and the wealthy. That is because they are the ones that fund their campaigns and they are totally beholden to them. Take them on directly Mr. President. Contrast your policies with theirs and you win easily in 2012. Excellent article.
Thanks, Howard! So many people know what the president should be doing that I don't understand why the people advising him don't light a fire under him--and I don't know why he doesn't "get it" himself. It's as though he's stuck in molasses. Maybe he's having nicotine withdrawal because he gave up smoking.
Stephen...

...send it as an email to the White House. They are still working on the speech...and this idea could end up a sentence in it.
This is a good start for what he needs to say...of course, one could add several more paragraphs with this same pointed theme and it would still be just a "start."

Problem is, however, he probably won't be speaking to Congress on Sept, 7 because Congress will most likely deny his request for a joint session.

Tail/Dog, to the max.
good luck with that, but you are missing the point: he doesn't want to say it. that's why you haven't heard it.

they live in their own little world in the beltway, and the only messages they listen to come from k street, written on brown paper bags.

there are better messages you could send, that would be listened to, but they require a nation of citizens, not serfs.
Now that Boehner-in-the-pot-of-the-tea-party is refusing to let the President speak to a joint session of Congress on Sept. 7, perhaps we need to send our contempt to Boehner, et al.
Praise the Lord... someone with a scintilla of common sense and enough functioning brain cells to "lay it on the line." Now, if only the President will listen...
MrsRaptor--Let's all do our part! It's up to ALL of us to do what we know needs to be done!
If Boehner refuses the Sept. 7 date, he should resign. His job is to serve the public, not his personal political agenda. He seems to forget he is not the President of the U.S.
Kate O'hehir: Boehner is a lapdog for Eric Cantor & the tea party. I haven't seen him shedding any tears lately--a surely sign that he has no conscience. I'll bet he doesn't even have a shadow either!
