Political ‘Choice’ and the Idea of a ‘Polarized America'

Rate: 6 Flag

The country has been moving rightward since the early 1970s. A lot of this MSM business about a “polarized America” is not very valid IMO. I think that the special interests have probably become more powerful than ever essentially, and that they drive policy under Democratic and/or Republican congresses/administrations. The Dem special interests and the Republican special interests are largely 1% interests — though they are of a different variety. And these are the interests that are represented, by either of the two sides of the political aisle.

I voted for Cynthia McKinney in 2008, because I assessed Barack Obama as a sociopathic social climber, with a genial manner and smile; and adequate — to above par — oratory skills; who I didn’t really expect to tackle any of the deep-seated problems that ail this country. Needless to say — I’m not a big booster of the official American electoral process, and I’m not even sure if I’ll bother to register a protest vote, in the forthcoming November presidential election.

The special interest's own the media and they drive popular consensus. And if that doesn’t work they also own the church's and synagogues. Welcome to Amerika Sean!

My sister is a famous environmentalist but if you ask me her and all her well meaning brethren are just political pawns too. I voted for McCain simply because I felt he was one seizure away from appointing the appropriate committees and delegating community firing squads but now that won’t happen either. Any kind of electoral process is a complete waste of time. You and I both know what America needs.
"sociopathic social climber"
Vote Green if only to counter all the bucks paid for advertisements on MSNBC. Votes are worth something if only because they pay so much to get them.
Until some quantity of blood is spilled there seems little hope for any improvement. I do not relish this but there seems no other way.
Good for you for pegging Obama as a sociopath. I missed that call. I voted for Nader because his platform was the same as McKinney's and I thought he would get more votes.
In my life I have voted for George McGovern, John Anderson (R) running as an independent, Barbara Jordan (D) write-in twice, Ralph Nader (Green) twice, Bill "Bubbah" Clinton(D) once - felt like I needed a shower after that one, and Obama - knowing full well what a baseline Chicago pol he was. I'll vote for him again this year with no expectations, because Bernie Sanders isn't running and I can't think of any others for whom I can creatively waste my vote... sad but true.
