One Love & Playing For Change

Rate: 24 Flag

THE PLAYING FOR CHANGE FOUNDATION IS DEDICATED TO CONNECTING THE WORLD THROUGH MUSIC BY PROVIDING RESOURCES TO MUSICIANS AND THEIR COMMUNITIES AROUND THE WORLD - Playing For Change, Mission Statement

Many are familiar with the Playing For Change project started a decade ago when a small group of documentary filmmakers "set out to create a film rooted in the music of the streets" worldwide. In the project musicians of every culture and every level play the same song; each different tune has been made into a film.

With Valentine's Day over, it is good to consider love in its wider spectrum, as I'm sure many here already do. Still it feels good to watch the mini films and hear the music.

It was the late, great Bob Marley's birthday on February 6th. I meant to do a tribute post but it didn't happen. One Love was one the songs
a part of the Play for Change project. Sending this out for some Positive Vibrations. Enjoy.a bouquet for you

I'm not always vocal about the connections I've made here and what they mean to me. One of the highpoints has been being let into your lives, to read your words and hear your stories. So thanks for that from the heart; my heart. Along with the tunes here are some flowers for my Open Salon friends and acquaintances.

Some things deserve to be repeated.
Thanks for the posting.
Mrs. Muse turned me onto Playing for Change. A fine thing.
Thanks for the flowers! If I had an extra 50 bucks
I would have sent you a lovely arrangement, you know that.
Change is coming, there is no doubt.
Things may have to get worse before we realize
we are One, but we shall persevere somehow
through the Troubles, and build a new world.
We who have the insight & vision
must continue to share the music
of our souls to each other,
to inspire us
not ever
to give up.

By the way, keep that picture up!
(how many glasses of wine had u sampled?)
Aka, Luminous: Of course, both of you musicians here first. Playing for change has a different meaning here. A great project.

Bob Marley: RIP

James: I never had any wine which may explain the expression. It was 1999 -- last month and almost the last day year of the 20th century. I think I had a glass on order. Or one was in order. Something like that ...
Thank you, Scarlett. And for the roses. I burned a Jo Malone Red Roses candle yesterday. Very cleansing and loving. Good of you to post this story.
We would have never met had it been for OS.
Great organization indeed !!
HUGGGGGGGG
I first heard about Playing For Change on Bill Moyers Journal. The video for "Stand By Me" brought tears to my eyes.

Thanks for such a sweet post-Valentine post.
Thanks for the music, flowers and a glimpse into your life.
Really nice, Scarlett. Thanks, and hope you had a good one. ~r
thank you for doing this post for Playing for Change.

sending a little love back to you!
I'd not known. Thank you! r.
beautiful stuff, scarlett -- the idea, the group, the films, marley, the music, and you. back at you on the personal sentiment, old friend.
What a great post and the music swept me into a very happy place.
I will send a link to this post to my musician friends. Lots of love back to you.

Lovely, Scarlett. Happy belated Valentine's Day! -E
Didn't know about "Playing for Change". Thanks and for the roses and the friendship.
The more music the better. Sounds like a worthy foundation there.
Thanks for your fine posts all along, and now the tunes and the flowers. Happy belated Valentines day, Scarlett.
Couldn't get back here until the end of the day. Whether you commented or rated this post, thanks to all who came by and shared in these tunes.

One Love.
Several years ago Gwen and I spent a week on St. Kitts Island. While there we took a catamaran over to Nevis Island. The song One Love was played incessantly, along with Red Red Wine. What great, sensual memories this brought back, Scarlett. Thanks for a Valentine gift.
Thanks for this bit of info Scarlett. I'd heard of this org but hadn't checked into what they do. What a great idea. That Congolese guy near the halfway mark sounded like he was channeling Marley. Great music picks again; you've really got the touch.

And as far as being thankful for being let into our lives, I've no doubt that that's mutual all around.
One Love. Sure says it all.

Happy day after V Day Scarlett!
Amen. And love and flowers for you.
A little late, but thank you for this. I loved the video...Keb Mo!
Thanks for the flowers. I have to wait to hear the video.
one love, one family.
that slide guitar...everytime...
gracias, flor (s. sumac)
I had never heard about Playing for a Change so thanks for the video introduction. And thanks for the roses -- I'll go get a digital vase.

And happy birthday Bob!
Hey friends that came by later. I got myself on a different tangent tonight but those flowers were fresh so I hope they were still fragrant when they reached y'all. xo
