A story like this really makes you realize that in the next 100, 200, 300 years population control is going to be a huge problem for this country. I don't know how China is able to pull off population control, and obviously there are all sorts of moral implications involved, but a story like this has to make us realize -- how are our great great grandchildren going to be able to survive in a country that allows an individual to crank out 30 kids, and then that individual clogs up our court system complaining about having to pay $1. 49 a month for each of them?
At some point we are going to have to address population control in this country and boy is that going to be an ugly debate. But I hope stories like this make us realize we better grapple with this issue now, before the situation becomes increasingly worse.
You will hear that in China laws were passed forbidding more than one child per family. That is outright propaganda. The Chinese people were advised of the dangers of their population situation and ASKED (not told) to limit their families to one child per couple. That worked just fine - almost.
It seems that there is a huge preference for boys in China. Women were having abortions if the foetus was female. So now they have the problem of finding wives for all those boys. Maybe being gay will become an official state policy......
