For the next couple weeks, I'm going to post some holiday comics from a recent series I was working on called "Retro" where I took a photograph that's in the public domain and added a caption. Most of the photos I used are from the Library of Congress website.
There's a lot of amazing material there.
I feel it's very important to be respectful towards the people in these photographs, so I worked hard not to have them saying anything outrageous. Many of the photos at the LOC photograph website deal with real life tragedy and warfare, so I made sure not to use any of those images.
The project was a fun excuse to take a stroll through the early history of photography. I encourage you all to take a moment and surf the LOC Prints & Photographs Online Catalog.
