part one of a transcript of my interview with one of the best investigative reporters in the world, Greg Palast, about his newest book, Billionaires and Ballot Bandits. And we got into something very interesting-- that there's a war between two kinds of billionaires-- The vampire squids and the Vult…

Thomas Frank observes, "The only honest way for progressives to assess the experience of these past four years is by coming unflinchingly to terms with our own futility and irrelevance." We can make a difference and we can do it with small acts. In fact, small acts…

some notes from my experience after the frankenstorm.
Cloud Atlas is an extraordinary, revolutionary movie, the best one I've seen since Avatar, a truly different approach to movie-making. And the message it sends could make the right wing hate it, so don't be surprised to see really negative reviews. Some will be based on politics…

God Narrates New Obama Ad

One of the new ads from the Obama campaign has a former god as narrator. Oh, and he's also a former president-- of two countries... and a murderer.
This is a brilliant, historically informed, first person observation and analysis. The partnership of Hedges and Sacco works beautifully to describe and portray the disintegration of the US, as it shovels more and more Americans into third world, even slave status.
the selling out and betrayal of the middle class is no accident. It's intentional. I interview America's two most honored investigative journalists about the details of that betrayal.
I'm writing this before the debate. Here's my prediction, not for the debate, but how Romney supporters and their media echo chamber will spin it:
A successful jump reminds me of the hopes and dreams of the space program back in the sixties. We need to get back to that head and heart space.

Ryan: A Weak, Minor League Teacup

Paul Ryan accused the Democrats of making the US appear weak. But his performance in the face of a tough talking, aggressive grownup was weak, minor league, a frail teacup totally outmanned by a grizzled battle cruiser. Not surprisingly, the right wing's punditocracy attacked a Democrat acting stro…

Amazing how one answer in a debate may put the nail in Scott Brown's election coffin
The composition of the Supreme court is one of the big arguments for voting for Democrat Barack Obama. But last night, I asked Supreme Court expert Jeffrey Toobin, author of the new book, The OATH, about how the court would change if Obama or Romney were elected…

Movie Review: The Master-- a disappointment

Some great strengths, with brilliant acting, characters and cinematography that will get it a lot of Oscar nominations, but I walked out disappointed.
I received an email titled: Tea party Multi Email No. 48 Every now and then, I check out the opposition and see what they're talking about. This particular email surprised me. There were a number of topics where there seemed to be agreement between the tea…

Double Down Mitt" or Just Mitt the Unfitt

It looks like Mitt Romney has developed a pattern in his responses to gaffes. He doubles down. This has happened again and again and again--- on accusations about distorting or lying on Obama and loosening Welfare rules, on the attack on Bengazi, on his "inelegant" attack on…
