Google+

For those who have not found out about Google's new venture, the genies of Google (trust me, I say that with reverence towards Google, a reference to the fact that they make something out of nothing and defy the laws of society) are now making their very own social networking site, Google+.  Mark Zuckerburg...watch out bud!

Will Google+ be able to do combat the pure audacity of Facebook?  I think so!  Google's reputation, its quality and the fact that it is completely fed off of the user's opinions and feedback, mean that Google+ will eventually become the big competition, and eventual winner over Facebook.

People are becoming dissapointed with Facebook because it violates borders that help us function in our day to da lives - there are still lingering questions and doubts over the legitimacy of adding your boss or subordinant on Facebook because you may not really tell your boss who you are dating in real life, but hey,its on FB, so then they see it and know it anyway. But it seems that with Google+, those concerns vanish.  Instead, you create "circles" and you put your family members, friends, co-workers, ex-wives and husbands, whatever you want, in these circles. You don't have to worry about the wrong information getting to the wrong people - there are just somethings that you Mom just does not have to know (and you would not tell her, so why would you share it with her online)?  Google understands that.

I personally can't wait to try out Google+!  It'll be something different from Facebook, which by the way, is getting a little bit too old school ;-).  I want something new!

And now that you've tried Google+, what do you think? I too like the idea of the circles. But it was a bit buggy at first, which is not what people like to see. This summer I started using it, but since I barely have time to catch up with my facebook account I basically don't use my Google+ account. And the thought of beginning again... ugh. More time spent sitting in front of a screen, tapping away.
I had high hopes for Google+, I really did. However, it underwhelmed me and annoyed me because of all the problems it has. And, I guess I don't really want to spend time friending the people I'm already friends with on Facebook. I guess I was hoping that Google+ would be more than just a poor alternative to Facebook, I think I wanted something new.

On a somewhat different note - now that I've graduated, I don't use facebook nearly as often as I did when I was in school - I post fewer status, post fewer photos, etc. I guess real-world hit!

Hope you are doing well, Greta!
