I visited the National Gallery of Art yesterday and meandered into the children's section of the gift shop, looking for puzzles. There, among the books, was Kim Gamble's "You Can Draw Anything". I stood and stared at it for a moment.
Kim Gamble? One of my favorites on Open Salon?
I picked it up and began looking through it. It is an amazing book instructing children (of all ages in my opinion) on how to draw anything in the most constructive and encouraging manner. On the back is Kim's bio - "one of Australia's most popular children's book illustrators" (paraphrased). I left the gift shop smiling, met a friend and told her all about it. I didn't buy it, but have been thinking about it and as much as I visit the Gallery, will probably do so in the near future.
I met Kim Gamble in person through his work, and wonderful work it is! Come to think of it, I forgot about the puzzles. See you next time, Kim :)

( razzle's still there ... )
Tell me this, razzle, if you do go back : what's the imprint ( who's the publisher ) ?
As far as I know, that book isn't available outside Australia.
Tell me this, pm me with your address, and I'll send you a parcel of signed Tashi's. Ok ?
Lovely to ( almost ) meet you, too, Razzle Dazzle.
Oh, and I particularly liked the advice, "...don't focus on the details, just the basic lines and shapes..."
