Thursday Haiku: Ode to Animal Envy.

Rate: 7 Flag

When I kiss you, I
Wish I were a butterfly
To taste us all over

Butterflies can taste with their feet.

When I hold you, I
Wish I were an octopus
To grip every bit

Octopus tentacles serve as arms, legs, fingers, toes all in one

When I see you, I
Wish I were a dragonfly
To sprint to your arms

Dragonflies are the fastest insects, flying up to 60mph

When I love you, I
Wish I were a big blue whale
To give of more heart

Blue Whales hearts weigh about 1 ton, the biggest of any animal on Earth

When I leave you, I
Wish I were an old dolphin
To keep mem’ries safe

Dolphins have the largest brain-to-body proportion of Earths creatures

Even with the bounds
Of human incapacities
I can contemplate

Thrill, Lust, Thirst, Longing
Anticipation, Pleasure
Created by us, for us

And so, I love you
The best I can with all that's
Pesky, normal me.

Very clever, and very beautiful!
"Pesky, normal me." in which dwells them all.
Thank you both! My first attempt at getting all fancy with the poetry PLUS pictures (and likely my last, that was grueling!)
Quite creative. And which was more grueling, the pics or the poetry? ;-)
I like this poem. Very well constructed.
Did you know swans mate for life?
(Wonder if that penis has anything to do with it?)

:)
This is just so beautiful. Imagine all, but stay pesky, normal you.
