6 Word Bio: RUDELY AWOKEN-- MOSTLY OUTSPOKEN-- REMAINING UNBROKEN ****************************************** My life would shock most people. It is a little known fact that there are quite a number of those on the fringes who may not ever see relief. I am that one you never met, in that we are kept separate by way of societal demands that the poor remain silent, biddable, childlike nonentities without a say as to our care or how it's to be provided. ****************************************** I tend to view things as a selfdisicplined person without advantages. If this won't set with some, then I guess they are not ready to remember who we are as one entity, governed by everyone inclusively. I will not cease to point out any diseased thinking I run across here in the USA. ****************************************** I stand in defense of the weakened, the brutally treated, the denied, the ones for whom life's trial can be too much. I stand with my thought, even when my legs are weakened, my stride not strong. ****************************************** Walk with me on this journey, now, wherein we may ask each other: How much is the value of one person affected by what is generally assumed about them? **** See me also at THE POOR WOMAN'S RETROACTIVE DIARY, (go to LINKS below, if you're interested) a commentary on the level of care I was allowed throughout my time seeking help.

Foodie Tuesday Chicks' Night In: French Flirtation

Rate: 23 Flag

Well! There are 2 FREE films to choose from this time around, both at YouTube.

Once again, to see our FREE films there, you must first create an account with your own password, then log in, and click on Movies by category, then click on FREE. (Or you can simply do a typed-in search while logged into your account.)

{If you already have a gmail account, you can simply sign in using it. It's a very simple process requiring little time and effort and no money}

Scroll down till you find the film of your choice to enjoy with the rest of us chicks, then pop some popcorn, sit back, relax, push play, and enjoy!

NOTE: Neither of this evening's freebies is commercial free. But neither will either of them cost you a red cent. And the films are left in their entirety, only being interrupted really quite briefly with short little blurbs (car insurance, and the like). Not even long enough for a quick bathroom break! (Of course, clicking on th ePause button works just fine! LOL)

Our first choice is an old classic from the 1960's: Charade, starring Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant. It's an adventure film, but full of romance and humor, told from the point of view (more often than not) of the female protagonist. Hepburn looks gorgeous in the clothes designed for her by her close friend, Givenchy. Lovely things, well tailored and fresh looking, yet so retro from our standpoint.

It's vintage film at its best, full of witty highjinks and mayhem, along with a romantic plot twist or two.

Here's a trailer for the film:

With a marvelous cast, a fun script, and lots of action scenes, this film could keep you guessing right up till the resolution of the plot (that is, if you haven't had a chance to see it before).

Our second flick for this evening's fun is a 2003 (but released in 2006) modern trip to the Versailles of a diferent era. Sofia Coppola's Marie Antoinette won't win top picks from any of the major critics, but is  a solid, well rounded, fascinating view on French Court life of the 1700's. And every performance enriches the story's culturally decadent vogue on French Royal Court life.

The set (some of it actually shot at Versailles itself), the costumes, every detail before one's eyes, is breathtakingly lovely. Even the food is gorgeous!

The music is surprisingly 20th century, being mostly from the 80's. But what a soundtrack! I'm generally fussy about modern music being used to embellish historical stories of past glory, but this time it felt totally right. This really surprised me on my first viewing.

Since then, I've acquired that soundtrack on CD. And it's become a favorite.

Here's a trailer for the film:

So luscious! Like a fine French pastry, decorated just so. And very wittily conjured, even with its quite (obviously) serious ending. Don't worry. No one's head gets chopped off. The plotline ends just in time.

Now!
What shall we have for our goody table this evening? Charade takes place mostly in France, as does Marie Antoinette. So going French this evening sounds about right.

Featured in Marie are charming little macarons. While I doubt any of us would just happen to have on hand all ingredients necessary, I've found a lovely video over at YouTube which teaches how to make real French macarons!

Here's that fun recipe video:

And the accompanying chocolate ganache recipe video:

So yummy looking! And certainly not calorie free! But it looks like it could be translated into the Gluten Free category, something I know Linda Seccaspina might really appreciate.

But let's not delve too deeply into sweets and pastries. What else can we serve, which is more easily prepared, and still might give us a little taste of French cuisine? I am open to new ideas! Ladies, what would you suggest?
:)

OH! This just in!
I thought we migh take turns enjoying a French facial, or even the work of a French Masseuse! So I've called in 3 experts so we can all feel pampered, French style, this evening!
:)

Absolutely fell in ove with the French music Fusie shared with us! This one is my favorite of the three! So dramatic and romantic. Lovely voice!

Here's a little Edith Piaf to add to the mood Fusie's begun for us!

And one more from our dear Fusie! :)

(This guy's brilliant performances still get me)

Now, here's something a little bit more upbeat....

And a grand suggestion from nilesite!

The perfect antidote to that last masculine interruption:

rita's excellent Nina Simone clip:

Love this fab costume party in Marie!

Dear Pandora's stellar music choice for us:

Afrodite's fabulous French music choice!

I'll be watching Charade ---if only for the clothes!

Hmm. Food.

A little paté de foie gras in an amuse spoon topped with a teensy bit of cranberry (leftover from my dinner) compote, some Veuve Amiot-- or shall we spring for the Bolly? Champagne to go with the foie gras at any rate. After that breaded and quick fried olives, crudités and some sort of yummy dip---what do you think: roquefort and sourcream? Dry martinis to go with the snacks.
I love vintage films and romantic plots and I will see the movies. I will try to make the recipes too, Poor Woman. This is so far the most thematic night in our Foodie and Movie Tuesday. What French can I bring.... Oh, yes ....Croissant for our coffee.. I drink coffee after dinner.
A beautiful Tuesday, thank you again.

Oh, and V. Corso, please invite me for dinner !!!!
Seen Charade many times but Marie Antoinette is my fave. I watch it once a week at least and listen to the soundtrack once a day.
Please note that you can get some fabulous meringues at Trader Joes in the freezer section..:)

HUGGGGGGGGGG
V.Corso: Oh my! Such a delicious panoply of decadent snacks you've suggested! Veuve Amiot sounds luscious--but then, so does the paté.
Some of us might object on principle to having real paté, so why don't we offer them an alternative as well? Such as Black Walnut and Mushroom Paté with, perhaps, a little Fumé Blanc?
Dry Martinis sound delightful as well.
To that I'd like to add our Smoothie Bar, with our lovely lad, Jacques minding the blenders.
Let's party, ladies!
Audrey Hepburn was such a beautiful woman--inside and out--and she had such class and style! Charade is always fun, but have not seen Marie Antoinette. I say we need some crisp white (French) wine for summer enjoyment, what about a Sancerre or Chardonnay?
STATHI STATHI: Ooo! I love a good, flakey croissant. I haven't had one in years. This virtual one with our virtual coffee (French Roast, naturally) will have to do. Thank you!
:)

Linda: It has become a favorite of mine as well. It has obvious flaws, but is overall so wonderfully made, I think we tend to overlook each one. And I LOVE that soundtrack, don't you?
:)

Erica: What a good idea! I like the choice of bright, chillable wines against summer's heat. Your Chardonnay will do nicely for me.
Care for a little fresh fruit salad to go with yours?
;)
By all means, consider any and all alternatives for dishes containing meat.--the nut foie gras sounds great!

Hi Jacques!
V. Corso: You're making Jacques blush, my dear!
LOL
He's so young and cute. Just what we need to perk things up around the old Chicks' Night In Palace!
Actually nut foie gras can be quite the delicacy.
Here's where to find one version of Walnut Mushroom Paté:

http://allrecipes.com/recipe/exotic-mushroom-and-walnut-pate/
Thick onion soup topped with tons of cheese baked in individual crocks. Served with a light red table wine (shouldn't compete with the soup) and a whole baguette...torn at the table. Dessert is peach melba with two spoons. Should be served on round table with white linen cloth. Ideal in dimly lit corner...
Ande: That sounds aromatic and heavenly! What a lovely idea!
Soup du jour and lovely Peach Melba (two spoons)
Can peach Melba be served ala mode?
The answer: Yes it can!
her's a URL for a tasty Peach Melba recipe:

http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/nigella-lawson/peach-melba-recipe/index.html
Oh, my dear PW, it's that time already?
I better start working on my baquettes (http://allrecipes.com/recipe/french-baguettes/) to bring along with fresh grapes, nuts, and French cheeses. I still have another bottle of Sauternes from last week for those of us with a bit of a sweeter leaning. A soufflé would be out of the question, wouldn't it? For practical purposes. . . :o)
R♥
You ask:
"What else can we serve, which is more easily prepared, and still might give us a little taste of French cuisine? I am open to new ideas! Ladies, what would you suggest?"
I am not a lady but i shall respond nonetheless!
As an all American male, i sure would love some
homemade french fries.
But that would take
potatoes. There are very few potatoes in my house.
So i would need to be invited to a place w/potatoes i guess..

I LOVE 'CHARADE'!
Grant is Grant, enough said.
Audrey makes a fellow ache in his soul.
Fusie: Oh, yes! By all means! Fruit, cheese, a little sweet wine for desert, and fresh baguettes! Thanks!
:)

James: LOL You nut!
Audrey makes everybody ache, dearie, only for various reasons. Some women would love to be just like her, others want to be able to dress like she did. She was such a gracious lady, a true soul. She did her best to leave this world a better place than it was when she entered it.
Audrey Hepburn was an icon.
i still see vestiges of her on the street sometimes....
nothing like her in "breakfast at tiffany's" w/ the mighty script
from the Man...

Grant was granted us American males to study hard.
At least, where i come from.
That comic genius gentleman of the ages
chasing a lion with kathy
hepburn
in
"bringing up baby"
is perhaps, i say, the ultimate comic masterpiece of the ages.
James: LOL in her brother's riding outfit and some shower thongs LOL
I love that movie.
The late great Kate always said she liked Grant best opposite her in his role in "Baby."
James: Oh. And I believe you meant to say, "chasing a leopard."
I come bearing baguettes, Pea Dubb!

Ande Bliss took my onion soup idea. I'd already bought a big bag of cheese.

Audrey H was lovely. Loved her in the Childrens Hour.
Love Charade, haven't seen Marie A. yet. Will be checking it out. Those macarons look so good! I'd serve a double creme Brie with a bit of fig jam on a sliced bagette and a flute of champagne.
ferns: You can never have too much bread at a virtual food extravaganza! We can always make grilled French cheese sandwiches!
Oh, man! That sounds good! Add a few veggies or truffles, and you've got sandwiches from heaven! Yum!

lschmoopie: Ooo! Brie with fig jam and champagne! Sounds so good, I'm practically salivating!
Ms. PW - I adore Charade, but I have never seen Marie Antoinette. I shall bring a selection of tortes and some Viennese Chocolate in honor of the beheaded monarch. Thank you for the invite and the spectacular job you do in picking movies!
Midwest Mue: Than you for honoring me by being a guest here and thinking to honor Marie through sharing chocolate! Are we talking Linzer torte?
:)
Your missing "s", Midwest!
Sorry!
We can be talking Linzer torte. With the internet I can make "virtually" anything. ;-)
James is here again! Well Poor Woman, it's time for the cold wax!

The rest of you hold him down and turn up the music when he starts screaming. Fusun, you just hold him by the big toe and grab the other end of these wax strips I'm wrapping around his hairy, manly calf...We pull on 3, 1...2...3...
Yes, I'll have my fruit salad with mangoes, if available, PW.
Just dropping in to see how things are warming up. I've been listening to an all/old time favorite, Charles Aznavour, while my dough is rising. Copied and pasted some links below.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1EMN7M0vaY&feature=fvwrel

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A6-Ea2eRngY&feature=related
Midwest: Ooo! Thanks a million! Linzer and Raspberry Walnut...and Lemon creme...and...and....

V: All right! I already had our wax arming in the mini Crockpot, so it should be just about ready, and nice and..er...overly warm...heeheehee

Grab him, girls! Midwest, there's duct tape in that drawer in the sideboard. V. Corso...let's try that countdown again....1...2...3...

Oh! Most men just do not have the guts for our style of hair removal!
Erica: You read our minds, here! We have mango smoothies, tropical mango fruit salad, and even mango salsa for a little Island spice with our corn chips!

Fusie! How perfect! I can hardly wait to play these for everyone! Thank you so much!
:)
@poor: my bad, yup, a leopard. So sorry……..

@V corso..sounds like a hell of a plan..the cold wax…

“ hold him down and turn up the music when he starts screaming.”
Pain to a heartbroken man like me is like candy, baby doll..

i aint terribly hairy for a guy, gotta say. smooth, kinda
like silk.
ha
C'est bon! I vote for Marie Antoinette and have no clue about what bug the critics had up their asses.

I love the idea of those pastries being everywhere, ready all the time! Curious about how they stayed so slim, though.
James, is here again, on our night!! I am with V. Corso, something must be done!!! Maybe some water and ice, after the wax... This boy, can not stay out of our nights. !!!
Genius! I love them both. May I recommend some IPod music in case the dialogue is distracting and you have to work with the flix on in the background? Try the wonderful soundtrack to Something's Gotta Give (2003) with Jack and Diane. It is ever so French! Oh la, la!
James: Well, you asked for it! Thankfully the girls and I had "I Want Candy" blasting, so the neighbors didn't hear the pitiful wail you let out.
I must say, you begged well, at the end....
But now, off with you! And don't say you haven't been warned. Next time, we'll merely duct tape you to a chair and stick you in the outer hallway as a warning against other mens who may care to try and invade our private paradise.
You have been mercifully treated, under the circumstances, and must learn to bend the rules no longer, and mind your business in man territory.
*Locks door against further intrusive interrupting*

zuma: I KNOW! What was up with those critics who hate this movie? I love every minute of it.
Champagne cocktail? Linzer torte?
Then there's Jacques, whom we hid during James's intrusive ...er..."visits." Jacques is shy, but he makes a grand smoothie!
He'll even give you a hand or foot massage if you ask nicely.
;)
STATHI: I already warned the cad. He just was not listening. We'll probably have to deal with jmac and JD later on today, so what's our plan for them?

*Gets into huddle with other girls, as one and all concoct plans for dealing with "stowaways" and "strays."*

nilesite: you've chosen another fave of mine. I ADORE that soundtrack! And I really LOVE the film. It's just too good to be missed.

Welcome! Chardonnay? or would a smoothie suit you better? Jacques is ready, willing and able to turn nearly anything into a smoothie for you, as well as tun a few heads! What a cutie pie!
;)
Oh, poor,
do whatever you see fit to do to a cad such as i.
i shall have dear stahi
(whom i have dubbed 'cutie pie' out of utter
male prerogative )

to tend me..." Maybe some water and ice, after the wax... This boy, can not stay out of our nights. !!!"

she asked very nicely for us all to see the sea.

i saw the sea recently!

i gotta warn u, though, if you seriously are gonna take on
the mightiest beard on os,
the old beard jmac.

you need a bigger huddle.

(ha . remember jaws? 'we need a bigger boat'?)
as i know well, from limited shy experience,
rules are meant
to be bent.
as are wimminz
Listening to Edith Piaf and remembering dozens of excellent meals and bottles of great wine from Provence. I love the peasant foods of France.
I know, Jmac and JD, will certainly come... I am suggesting pillow fighting.. Let's all gather together, after we have of course, served them some beer, or what they are drinking, and then , let pillows do the talking. It is our night!!!!
Anybody catch a glimpse of JMacCavity, our bearded bard? Check behind the curtain, under the couch...did anybody let Jmac in the door?

Macavity's a Mystery Cat: he's called the Hidden Paw--
For he's the master criminal who can defy the Law.
He's the bafflement of Scotland Yard, the Flying Squad's despair:
For when they reach the scene of crime--Macavity's not there!
@V. Corso~ You mean Macavity, the monster of depravity, the Napoleon of crime? Mais oui! He is napping innocently, curled up on the sofa.

I'm going out to get some Aloe-Lavender facial masks for treats - will return later, ladies. Tat taa. . . ♫☺
They say

he cheats

at cards...

Sleeping you say? That's why he's so quiet. Hmmm. Should we put him out the kitchen door?

I'm reading Tarot cards. Who wants their fortune told?
V. Corso, count me in on fortune telling!!!
James: You are not welcome. This is our chick time. Any further comments from you, and I will start deleting! There are simply no excuses for such rudeness.

Grab him, ladies! VCorso, pass me that duct tape, will you, please? Thanks!

*They make a huddle around James's sorry self, using much tape, till he is no longer able to struggle.*

There's also some surgical tape in the medicine cabinet, ladies. Would one of you be a dear and fetch it quickly?

*Affixes stip of fetched tape to Jame's stammering mouth*

What shall we do with him now, ladies?

jmac: We suggest strongly that you now leave, and stay away for the duration. Furthermore, it was rude of you to try and crash our scene the last 2 times. We are done being leniently "nice." We are the Pirate Wimmins. You do not want to mess with the likes of us.
Now, be off with you, silly fellow!

Shuts, locks door, then adds crossbar.

From now on, ladies, we guard this here turf like it was a last bastion against male insincerity and domination.

This here's our turf. No mens allowed. Agreed?

STATHI: No pillows. Only duct tape and no free food for the mens.

But what to DO with James, now he's all taped to our spare chair?

VCorso: Oh! Well done! Brava! He is a bit like that secretive cat of T.S. Eliot's. Glad he's gone...probably he'll try and come back to rescue James. I intend hitting the "Delete" button every time one of them adds a comment. They've been warned!

Fusie: Those masks sound divine! can't wait to try one! Don't forget to bring your p.j.'s on your return!
:)
VCorso: oh, me too! great idea! Only, I doubt he's actually asleep. He's more than likely faking it....especially if he's a cheat with cards.

I know! Let's tie his chair to the balcony railing and then close and lock the sliding glass door. We could close the curtains as well......

Or maybe we should just slip him a "Mickey."

Oh! Look at that! STATHI's drawn the Ace of Cups!
What a nice selection of movies and music. I submit Nina Simone's Ne me quitte pas cover of Jaques Brel lovely tune. I am supposed to be working on a lecture so I will drink a very light French Beaujolais-Villages wine perfect for a weeknight movie outing.
Gary Grant is an ultimate favorite and the chemistry between he and Audrey is wonderful. No chocolate for me but good cheese is fine. Happy for the Joie de vivre here on OS!
http://youtu.be/_NejWRap42g
Nina, in Paris.
Poor Woman, you are right ... They have been warned!!!

Your question can easily be a book theme ...

"" But what to DO with James, now he's all taped to our spare chair?""

That is thrilling, I am waiting for V. Corso and Fusun to say first...
but I have got so many ideas!!!
rita: What a great choice for our music today! Tank you. I love Nina Simone's work.

*Passes her the cheese board and a fine knife, also a basket of fresh fruit*

STATHI: Yes. They have. Twice. I also PM's James regarding being patient and using better manners. He might have to wait, I said, for a "coed" party in which both sexes may partake. For now, this is Chick territory ONLY. End of story.
;)
STATHI: Now. Tell us, if you will, your ideas as to what to do with this fellow we now have taped to our spare chair?
:)
You definitely made my day, PW; I thank you. R
Ladies, did you hear something? i thought I just hear a puff of hot air....
Ah, well...no matter.

Here's a little something I just PM' to the duct taped James:

"Your French is incomplete. Either that, or you are being merely obstinate.
Or fresh.
Whichever.
Charm cannot make up for good manners. and you are now trussed like a stuck pig to a spare chair which has been tied to a balcony railing 34 floors up. The sliding glass door is locked. There is no way but down. And, as balconies on our side of the building are staggered, not one atop the next, and the one nearest is 40 feet away, and you have neither rope nor sheet for assembling into same, I suggest you settle down, and allow that we be merciful.

Comprendé?"

Was I too cold, d'you suppose?

Let's make this OUR day again, no more silly mens!
;)
Thoth: I trust that is the last we'll hear out of you for the rest of today?

Fair warning: I now delete male commentary on OS Wimmins occasions.
Including this one.

You have been warned.
James made fun of my pillow fighting and now Thoth is here..

Oh, we must take fierce measures. Let's say, let him be thirsty and we all around him be drinking and he isn't... I think this is hard enough.... What are we gonna do.. They keep, invading!!!!
STATHI: I have the power to DELETE all male comments.
So why don't we stop thinking about them for a change? They wanted us to. That's why they came here.

Now, how about a lovely fresh fruit smoothie from Jacque's blender kitchen?

:)

We have fresh strawberries!
In one of my favorite movies,"My fair lady",Audrey's voice was dubbed by Shirley Andrews,I found out in an inerview with J.A.
The best performance with Audrey was "Wait until dark".
Heidi: She was absolutely BRILLIANT in "Wait Until Dark." I was on the edge of my seat from the suspense!

Care for some Brie en croute with fig jam?
Jmac got edith piaf . all you got is..uh oh…rita..shit..where when did she get here…/

(we gotta do a man huddle.)

Rita says, “will drink a very light French Beaujolais-Villages wine”

Uh oh.
This is portentous.

As for what u wanna do with me now I am duct taped down, I gotta say, whatever u gals wish.
For, as the prophet said, mr k. Gibran that is…
“The Madman (1918)
The Madman: His Parables and Poems (1918) Full text online

 For the first time the sun kissed my own naked face and my soul was inflamed with love for the sun, and I wanted my masks no more. And as if in a trance I cried, "Blessed, blessed are the thieves who stole my masks."
Thus I became a madman.
And I have found both freedom and safety in my madness; the freedom of loneliness and the safety from being understood, for those who understand us enslave something in us.
But let me not be too proud of my safety. Even a Thief in a jail is safe from another thief.
Well, ladies? what shall we do next?
It's time fro James to pay the price of his stubborn rogue self-opinion.

Let's huddle!
Out damned spot! Out, I say!

That's Shakespeare for Get Lost, boys!

10 minutes till delete time.....
I am in, on ""Now, how about a lovely fresh fruit smoothie from Jacque's blender kitchen.."' and I love the movie " Fair Lady''. It is such a dreamy escape. !!!! Oh, what a power the delete button!!!
STATHI: I know! Wasn't it a wonderful film? I really enjoyed it.

Care for a slice of fresh quiche made with spinach, chives, and Gruyere cheese?
A little under 5 minutes before I hit the Delete button, erasing all evidence mens ever invaded our scene......
listening to Nina...Thanks Rita!

"I'm reading Tarot cards. Who wants their fortune told?" ~ V.Corso
*ooh, me, me, me*
noooooo *stuffs James in a dress*
oh hell, gender is a sliding scale...I'd hate to see where I'd sit on it
...could you hand me a serving of "Brie en croute with fig jam"? For this French night,I'd suggest crepe with ice cream, cointreau-flambée.
Julie! No no no! That's poor Jacques! *helps him re-attire for his smoothie duty*

James had, uh, go....
As did scanner.
Now it's just us chicks. Which is how most of us prefer these nights to go. Sorry!
I guess I've had enough of male companionship for the time being!LOL
Care for a slice of Linzer torte?
Heidi: What a great idea! I adore crepes! Yes, by all means! I believe we may hire a special crepe sous chef for our evening of fun.

*picks up cell phone, dials catering company*

Acme Catering? Yes, this is PW over at the Chicks' Night In Suite.
Would Jacque's uncle, Pierre, be available for special crepe duty this evening? I'll be sure and leave him a pass key at the concierge's desk. Yes. He must show them his photo ID. Thank you.

*ends phone call*

Well, ladies, thanks to the brilliance of Heidi, we now may also have crepes to order tis evening! Our sous chef is on his way now!
:)
I incorporated Marie Antoinette into my mind numbing and bad post on writing exercises.

Here's three things: A vat of wax for any more mens who show up. Let's just put James in there and keep him there so he will come out nice an' soft and no where near so crusty.

Now, here's the Playgirl website link...ha! Fat chance you're getting that.

And for the food contribution: Buffalo turkey, grilled marinated veggie mountain and chocolate bomb. (The chocolate bomb is named "Henry". h aha!

And rum! Quarts and quarts of rum!
Oooh! I'll have seafood crepes and burgundy beef crepes! For dessert: those Magic Pan Cherries Royale crepes! Yeeee!
grabs a big plate to make sure I have room for Linzer torte and crepes
where are the steins for the coffee? heck with beer, I need some caffeine
zuma: I LOVE the Magic Pan!
make mine Crepes St. Jacques, please!

*with a sly wink at our smoothie man*

OH! My! Love your "Chocolate Bombe!" henry, I have to say, you give a superior foot massage. I've never had a better one.....

*turns to mush as Henry works out every knot in her feet and ankles*
PW -- what an awesome hostess! I thought you may postpone. I understand fire now 50% contained, but am assuming you are relatively safe at moment. still praying!

It took me a while to skim down already! Appreciate the efforts of gender boundaries! Well done, my fellow women!

Have not seen Marie A. and am very interested, though I have been addicted to Charade for years. Like a lighter type Alfred H. movie. Stanley Donen directed. Cary Grant pulls off his age in this far better than poor Gary Cooper with awesome Audrey in Love in the Afternoon (which was a pretty brilliant plot imho)! Wonder if that is a freebie, too?

Grant was self-conscious being so much older, but since he alludes to it so self-deprecatingly and gallantly to Hepburn's advances during the movie, it makes him all the more ageless and endearing. And Hepburn is so sly and has an invincible vulnerability, he certainly seems no cradle snatcher.

My fave moment is when he marches into the bathroom and calls Audrey's seductress bluff but then takes a shower in his suit. Sorry -- only one spoiler to a moment for any who have not seen it. How many actors could pull that off? I just saw Grant a few days ago in Arsenic and Old Lace and couldn't stop giggling over his comic horror over his murderous sweet old aunts. (is that one around, too? God, I love the old classics!)

Audrey rocked in Wait Until Dark absolutely!! Hard to pick my favorite for her, but maybe that one. My Fair Lady she was lovely and I understand was disappointed when Marnie Nixon I think it was (forgetting who mentions this above) sang in place of her in movie soundtrack. Kind of poetic justice for Julie Andrews who had worked so hard on the MFL role on Broadway, though she won academy award for Mary Poppins against Audrey that year iirc.

Decades ago when I was in London for a couple of glorious but rain-soaked days I saw Dianna Rigg do the Eliza Doolittle role in the original Pygmalion play.

I do have macaroons available for munching but a brie cheese along side would be perfect with fruit and crackers/bread. Alas, I have non-aristocratic cheddar. Crisp white wine also sounds wonderful (pino?) and is always easily accessible in this city before the shops close. Maybe I should dash out?

Thanks, PW and fellow women!! To be continued! best, libby xxx
Heidi, yes, me too loving Wait Until Dark. PW, on the list, too, maybe?
Libby, Julie Andrews in Mary Poppins is my favourite movie!!! I just love it ... And I am wondering, which of you my friends can say

"" superfragilisticexpialidocious ''... really quick... Or maybe we must ask James to do so..

If you want to learn the lyrics and sing along- cause I am listening to it right now- you can here!!! Mary, rocks!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?=MwoXiIEh8O4&feature=fvwrel

Thank you, Libby, for the reminder!!!
Libby: Hurray! you cam! So glad to see you! A good Pinot would be lovely. GOSH! haven't we got just a ton of wine this time? Chardonnay...champagne....Veuve Amiot...Sauterne....light red table wine from Ande...and now Pinot? Whoosh! We're gonna be pretty Mellowww, lemme tellya!
LOL

STATHI: There are to be no more men here and about. Any you spot, simply point them out to me and I will merrily Delete!
:)
Bonjour, I'm back! My baquettes are fresh out of the oven ready to be torn into pieces. I picked up fresh Québec-grown strawberries on my way back. They are small, sweet, and fragrant. Would anyone care for some Oka cheese? It'smade by the French Trappist monks near Oka (http://www.french-at-a-touch.com/Gourmet/Cheese/oka_canadian.htm). Goes very well with wine and fruit. Now I'lll see what's been going on while I was away.

Oh, here are two dozen individual facial masks: apricot, ginseng, cucumber and ginger, lavender, even a coconut-chocolate one! Please help yourselves. ☼
dear stathi!

docious-ali-expi-icious-fragi-cali-rupus ... which is not exactly backwards, a lyrical cheat, but that line's somewhere in the song! Right?

"you can even say it backwards ... which is utterly atrocious (or is it "precocious"?)

libby :-)
OOooo! Apricot sounds lovely! Thank You , Fusie!
:)
Libby: LOL I love that part!

Oka cheese? Fusie has taken the trouble to bake us all some nice fresh baguettes!
(((PW)))) --- I knew Pino didn't look right! :-) Caught. PINOT!!! I got a "your house wine, please" wallet and no training in French language! best, libby
My cousin and I once went to a tres (???) classy NYC French restaurant, ordered something interesting sounding and got FRANKS AND BEANS. Not what we were expecting. But memorable! libby
docious-expi-ali-fragi-cali-repus!
Sort of!
:P
Libby: Wish we could see that menu !LOL

I'd really enjoy knowing what it was you ordered.

Cassoulet?
Am I too late? I was chatting with my mom. Sigh, well at least I don't have to wax men, gruesome thought! I brought ginger snaps and fresh cherries as I've eaten everything else. I adore Audrey Hepburn enough to name a child after her but tonight, well tonight feels like Marie Antoinette.

V. Corso please read my cards, read them myself last night and didn't like what they said, wait, wait, wait, sigh...
It's so nice to see that Libby, Zuma, Hyblean Julie have joined in too! And to Rita, thank you for that link: Ne me quitte pas. I love the song, but I hadn't heard it by Nina Simone.

Would anyone care for a drink? coffee, tea, wine, beer, smoothie?
I'm listening to Je Cherche un Homme. :o)
Doris is here ! Yay! {hug}
l'Huere: Thanks for the gingersnaps. I'm quite fond of ginger myself, actually. The fruit I'm certain our Jacques can use if it's a smoothie you're hankering after. or we can simply nosh it as is!

Yes--be very glad you were not her during our hair removal adventure. It was not a pretty sight.
On to bigger and better things!

I'm in the mood for Marie myself.
Think I'll start mine up here shortly.

Fusie: I simply adore Je Cherche un Homme! It is a favorite.

Green salad with cheese crumbles, pear slices, and healthy vinaigrette?
French mints? Anyone? Anyone?
provemewrong: Hello, Olive! So glad you could join us this time!
I'll have a mint, yes, thank you! They smell divine!

Care for a smoothie or some fresh crepes? Pierre can make you any kind of crepe under the sun!
sorbet alone or for the smoothie? there's an idea.

(ever have orange sherbet and coffee ice cream? a fantastic combo imo!)
okay, someone tell me the secret of how the heck French women stay slim?
@Libby - I can imagine. Coffee is close to chocolate, and orange and chocolate are a runaway flavor combo. So you have a winner there, I'm sure. I love Haagen Dazs' coffe ice cream.
settles back into chair with cucumber ginseng on my face and Byte still wet on my toenails
*sigh* listening to the ebb and flow of conversation around
libby: My guess for your Frenchwomen Q would have to be because they WALK more, and heft their groceries while doing so, nearly daily. They oftentimes live in buildings requiring much climbing of stairs. The older the building, the less likely there will be an elevator. LOL

I like fresh sorbet--lemon's my fave. But the sorbet we asked the caterer to bring comes in a variety of flavors. Check the freezer! Each one's marked!
:)
@Libby - Is it a secret or a myth? :o)
PW, et al.

I saw a Marie A. documentary on pbs. Two things seriously struck me.

One was that by the time Marie A. became less callow even savvy and mature there was such a wave of rage and bitterness among the people, justifiably, and there was also a wave of MISOGYNY that intensified it toward her (ugly cartoon caricatures and she became a super scapegoat).

Also, when she and the king tried to make their escape from their ultimate doomed fate in the dark of night, they were so incapable of traveling light, had to take an entourage and with them the finest "necessities" and portable accommodations to travel with, they were ultimately discovered. Geeez.

Ironic. They were incapable of functioning without their pampered people and luxuries -- I mean not beginning to downsize in our common folk eyes -- it was their undoing.

"What do the simple folk do?" Well, for one, they would have wanted to save their scalps before their powdered wigs, I'm thinking!

libby
FusunA -- not sure! I know there is a book out. Next time I'm in B&N maybe I'll make a quick skim! :-)
libby: Te wind is coming out of the east ! I can air out my place for a bit! Yay!

As for poor Marie and hubby, et al, they'd never done without, had they?

I still think if they'd been willing to sneak away 2 months prior, plan better, and maybe even add a decoy entourage, they might have made it.
Julia Child knew the secret of French cuisine! Butter!!!

At work one day someone brought in these delicious cookies. Someone asked, "What is this flavor! I know I know it." More people tasted the delish cookies and looked a bit quizzical.

Suddenly we all yelled out as one, "BUTTER!!!" It was funny! We were thinking it was something a lot less seemingly basic and accessible! :-)
Julie: Care for some Coffee ice cream? It's the good stuff! Haagen Dasz!
;)
More calories in a croissant or a scone? I thought scones were purer and then I gotta look at the calorie count at Starbuck's in NYC! Whoa!!!
Ooo! Love butter, but it doesn't love me! My cholesterol, y'see....

Virtual cookies are the best. No temporary weight gain, no guilty feelings later on, and no elevated cholesterol!
:)

Walnut Mushroom paté, Libby dear?
PW!! Open those windows wide, woman! I'll take a vicarious inhalation with you! So glad you are getting a bit of a break! Hope wind keeps working on your behalf!
*Watching Marie*
I absolutely HATE that part!

*points to part wherein Marie's dog is wrested from her 15 year old hands at the Austrian/French border. Poor little Mops, too!
Yes, everything's better with butter on't.
Makes you fatter, too!

Marie A. should be a lesson to all. Yet when people were lacking bread and crying out for the most basic sustenance, she allegedly said: "Let them eat cake!"
thanks, PW! Yummmm!!! pate and Bolly!! This was V Corso's contrib iir! :-)
Fusie: She never said it, you know!
That was something her detractors made up to spread to the people.
Historians did prove it, long since. Sorry!

*offers her friend the very plumpest and most glorious of the strawberries left in the bowl*
Libby: She brought both kinds of the paté. Yum! And her Bolly! Fabulous
opted for Charade but maybe Marie A this week! :-)
Just added one of my fave part of Marie A above. Love it!
:)
Still drooling over the pastries... my sister is a baker, Italian yummies are her specialty.
Bonsoir mes amies! So sorry I am un peu en retard ce soir, mais I was brewing a tall express.
Heidi - it was Marni Nixon who sang for Audrey. Talk about your "unsung" heroes. Audrey got the kudos, Marni got a nice check, I'm sure, but none of the hoopla. Oh la, la, que j'aime Le Hoopla! Mais oui!
Asia: Oh! Don't get me started! cannolis are fabulous!
Thanks for stopping by. Glad you could make it.
We've got wine, cheese. bread, fruit, sandwiches, salad, soup, multiple desserts....and the list goes on!
Oh, I'm back and bringing the double berry cheesecake ice cream thought coffee is my favorite and orange sherbet sounds lovely with it. I found the HDMI cable I got on ebay and plugged the computer into the TV, wow, I was instantly into it Marie. I loved Kirsten Dunst in Elizabethtown which oddly was filmed in Versailles Kentucky. How funny life is...

Now, where is that cucumber ginseng Julie had on, her face is fab and I need to freshen mine up.
FWIW, here is hulu address for charade, no sign up. possibly more movies for movie nights here, too, PW!!!

http://www.hulu.com/watch/94303
Oh, and halloooo Fusun, hugs to you! I'm rusty on the chick stuff, hee hee, but good with ice cream!
Yay! The return of Doris is always a good thing!
And she brought ice cream!

*fetches scoops, bowls, spoons*

Libby: Thanks! Signing up at YouTube is no big deal, but I will check into Hulu one day soon. my impression of it from someone I know is lots more commercials. Sorry. That might be a misnomer.

O stumbled upon YouTube's movies one day a month or so back. Fell in love. Have seen gobs of flicks there, some for FREE. But I will check out your Hulu. CAn't promise I;ll like it better, but we'll see...
;)
Thank you!
My mask has hardened, gotta wash it off. I smell like artificial peaches (=).

Julie, did you enjoy yours?

Is Erica still here, she's been awfully quiet. What about Ferns?
I think STATHI took a beauty nap and she's up, all freshened - it must be tomorrow in Greece.
Libby: Okay, I just paid a visit to Hulu, and I gotta tell ya, it's a mishmash of various clips playing at various places. YouTube offers only what YouTube has, but there's no wandering all over the internet in pursuit of (only possibly) a film's entire content. I'm sorry, butI found that off-putting. I actually really have little time to keep shopping around for whichever place is best that Hulu presents in their line-up.

FOr example, I added "Elizabethtown" to their search window, and the response seemed so confused. Trailers mixed in with clips mixed in with what may or may not be the film's entirety. I know I sound severe, but what with moving, packing, cleaning, and keeping my blog's content fresh, i just don't have all the time in the world to spend looking around till I may or may not happen to find what I'm actually looking for.

I think you'd be surprised at how nice the YouTube site is. I never have paid to sign up, and only pay for the occasional really cheap movie, at my discretion. And it's all right there, no confused line-up. as trailers are kept separate, as are clips.

Tyr it! It may surprise you!
Hey, Pea Dubb, am I too late to the party? I went to take a peek at Charade, which I loooooovveeee, and got all wrapped up and forgot to show up! I wanted to bring some escargot, but the damned snails don't seem to appreciate this Georgia climate.

Lezlie
Fusun, here in Greece is 05:00 in the morning, no I have not been to sleep yet but I had nothing to say, after all the drinking I had. I am dizzy. I need a strong coffee!!!
Thank you for missing me...
*hands Bleue the tube of cucumber ginsing* Want me to Hask your hair? I'm doing mine.
KALIMERA, Afrodite! I learned that from your lovely sister. :o)

One coffee on its way. Would you like some croissant au beurre avec tartinade framboise with that?

Lezlie, welcome dear lady! You bring us joy with your presence.
PW, np. just thought if anyone was reluctant to do a formal sign up.
Kalimera, Fusun but today we are in French mood, so

"" Bonjour,oui,je veux un café ''

and this I found through google translator. Oh, coffee and croissant au beurre avec tartinade framboise ... just delicious!!

You are too good to be true, my friend!!!
Yay, party still happenin here and I'm outside to cool off (and smoke). Hi Stathi in the morning, sleep is over-rated!

Julie, have you ever shaved anyone's head? I have an insane urge to shave mine.

Bzzzzzzzzzz.........
Fusie, if you are co-hosting again, this is just like the good ol' days!
Bleue, imagine me with you out, cause I too smoke. Who else is smoking in here.. I am just curious... Yes, I agree Bleue, it is overated...but to honest, I like the silence of the nights.
Bleue...if you were a patient, you'd be getting 2mg of Ativan and a warm bed right about now
Not that it doesn't grow back, but... your hair is gorgeous, don't be silly *puts Hask on it, a heating cap, and hands you a decaf cuppa*
Lezlie: I never know who's going to show up to one of these shindigs, but I'm awfully glad you came by!
As for the escargot, we're actually into the ice cream portion of the evening!
as for me, I've been busily resetting the sprinkler so the grass out front will stay nice and green. I've just accidentally BROKEN said sprinkler, dunno what I'll do now.
:(

STATHI: As everyone comes and goes here always at her own discretion, I try never to pressure anyone into remaining. We all have blogs to tend, and we also keep differing hours. I'm sorry if you felt you were not really missed by us, but I assure you you have been. As I was saying, I try never to pressure anyone into remaining for the whole of the experience. And most of my guests come and go and return or may not return. They have duties to perform, and their worlds are different than mine.
We all really like you, and we also wish you to please yourself, and not feel as if you must stay awake too long or stay with us all the time. It is the kind of party one walks away from, and perhaps may return to....or not. We may miss each other's presence, but we are loosely allowing for varying time zones and schedules.
Does that help?
I do hope it will.
:)
Fusie's coffee should help as well. It's always excellent!

Julie: Oh! Aren't you sweet to offer to do that for a friend!
;)

Fusie: You always know just what to say and do, and at the right moment. How gracefully gracious you are!

Libby: Nothing's "forma" at YouTube. And it's all quite simple. If you have gmail address, you may sign in that way without creating a a separate account. i suppose I really ought to have mentioned it.
Once signed in, al's so simple and easy to use, very self-explanatory. Ad while some films do cost, the fees are seldom over $2,99 for either 24 or 48 hors of viewing time, depending on what's offered. You pay per movie, at your discretion, or not at all if all you want to se are their Freebies.
Really very clear cut and simple, simple, simple.

How's your ice cream?
:)
Man! I must be more tired than I had thought!
I cannot type tonight worth beans!
LOL
Hi Girls, Day Late and Dollar Short reporting in from Austin. Bearing Tarte Tatin and Armagnac, seeing as it is a little later.

Oh V. Corso - PLEASE read tarot for me. I am SUCH a crossroads in my life. If you don't have time, maybe you have gone to bed. It is late in the Nederlands, would you do it for me sometime? I need all the perspectives I can get! MUCH appreciated.

Will look all the way down this delightful banter and see what else is going on.
Doris , you have lovely hair, dearie! Why shave it off? is it really hot where you are, or humidly warm?

Lezlie: I loved those good old days....remember the elephant incident? and the "brownies"?
LOL

I find myself missing amanda sometimes at our gatherings. Ad what happened to fernsy? haven't seen her back in hours! Those two used to keep our parties hopping!

Julie: Do my hair next, too, please?
The difference of the hour is an issue, but I only wrote that cause I liked reading Fusun, thinking of me. To be honest I am waiting for the Tarot reading by V.Corso, and to be double honest, I like our Tuesday nights in. I like being with all my female friends and it is my fault, but you all can call me Afrodite, this is my first name. Thank you again,PW!!!
and Fusie is here from Montreal, where my heart resides! And darling Julie. OK, I am listening to Madeleine Peyroux right here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3GZRTm9-tz0
Hi Pandora! Wondered whether you'd be able to find the time to stop by! Thanks for the great food! It all looks wonderful.

Coffee?
Ok, Hasks all around! *putter, putter* I feel better busy
Afrodite; I LOVE that name! it is very lovely. Thank you for sharing your first name with us here.

O! Look! We just got a whole new basket of goodies handed in at the door from our caterer. What's inside? Brioche! More croissants! Mini quiches! Oh, how delightful. Afrodite, you choose first, you've been up the latest.

:)
Thanks, Jules!
:)

Like my fancy purple jammies? I got 'em on sale. I'm diggin' the little cups of coffee in the pattern of these babies. So soft and comfy! Love my cotton knit!
oh, wah, you are gone. I wonder hasking hair is. Ok, well maybe next week I'll arrive earlier.
We have a great new group of partay an -i-mals now. Amanda was a real hoot, though.
ya, you ARE there. Julie, what is hasking?
Pandora: I LOVE your choice of music for us. Where did you discover this vocalist? She's wonderful!
Lez: You doe realize how cute what you just said seems, you with your zebra "party animal" avatar!
LOL
Now THIS is a PARTY!!! And I have a craving for a nice crisp white wine to go with my sweets.
Hask it's good stuff for all hair types, Pandora. :)
Nice pjs PW!!
I have never had Brioche before so that will be the it thing and I have a suggestion to make. What do you think on seeing the movie ET in the following Tuesdays or even make a tribute to Julie Andrews.. Just suggesting, while tasting my fabolous Brioche, and listening to the magnificent " Oh,mon amour'' by Christophe...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rw36n0U6Dzw
Asia: Erica K brought Chardonnay, but we also have some champagne left in the fridge! Help yourself!
oh PW, can you put the embedded video in? And ASIA! Practically my first GF here! And Stathi, my God, woman, you must be Greek to stay up all night like that! (Said with big smile, xox). And Zebra woman, you really bring panache to the place.

It really is kinda nice you are all here in my computer. Feeling warm. How weird is that?
Pandora: I already have, dearie! See for yourself!
;)

Coffee?
Julie you're too nice, sigh. I'm in the desert and the hair is beastly hot. I wonder if Ativan will help? I know I have some around here, maybe PW should give the broken sprinkler a dose too.

Ah lovely to see Lezlie and Pandora. Where did Amanda go, that was a long time ago. People need to stop leaving before I wind up on ativan and xanax again.

PW, excellent recommendation, I'm loving Marie Antoinette. I'll take a quiche please, now... what elephant incident????
Juleeee!!! ummm...placenta? Let me have a little more armagnac before I put that stuff on my head.

Now henna...I am old enough to have pretty funny henna story. Well, maybe I am so old that I think it is funny, and nobody else will. Yeah. Maybe so.
Okay, call me sentimental, but I was listening to this - out of the blue.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccFAdmLv9dg&feature=fvwrel

Anyway, I looked in to see what's been going on.

*Julie - you crack me up, funny girl! I still would like to learn how to embed links into the comments, please.
*PW - I miss Amanda Panda, too! What's she doing?
*Afrodite - Bon appetit, ma chere amie. Brioche est delicieuse.
*V.Corso - Sometime you must tell me why you're living in The Nederlands.
*Pandora - Montreal will be very hot tomorrow.
*Nilesite - I hope your Tarot reading goes well.
*Doris - Keep your lovely mane, please! No shaving off.
*Lezlie - I wasn't co-hosting this party; I just jumped in because our lovely hostess, PW, has that effect on me. She pulls one in and makes her feel so part of what's going on.

I hope I didn't leave anyone out, if I did, I'll bring the home-made baklava next time (family recipe)! But for now, I'm fading out, and will ask for your forgiveness for bowing out from this beautiful gathering. It has been wonderful. Thank you to our gracious hostess, may fair winds blow her way and rain cleanse the air she breathes. Good night to you all, my friends.
Bon soir. ♫☺
A la prochaine fois, milles bisoux.
Ah, and I have just remembered..

Are you (referring to all) going to participate in the GALLERY CHALLENGE: SEE YOUR SEA, or am I eating and drinking and smoking, and listening to great music, and laughing, and frenching, and making my hair done, and waiting for my tarot to be told, and watching two excellent movies , and forgeting myself, and being with my friends, having beautiful time, just for nothing...? There is an OC challenge I am trying to establish, and I need all of you to join( there is a please,in my request).
l'Heure: LOL Okay...it involved Cranky getting, um, perhaps a little too happy and mellow after eating some "brownies" naughtily concocted by lemonpulp and one other (I t may have been fernsy), and then tangling wit one of the OS party rental elephants. This was then followed by Mrs. cranky finding him asleep and , uh, "happy" under said pachyderm.
LOL
Afrodite: I wish i could, my friend. I live much too far away from the sea. And there are no lakes close by large enough to even mimic the sea.
So I do not think I can.
:(
Even though I would like to, very very much
Sorry I missed most of the movie fun tonight but I was working, no slaving away on my seas ... I do love a room temp Armagnac though. Will be just the thing after my coffee. Tarot's a bust - I always want to argue. Abientot, mes amies!
Sacré bleu, that first I Want Candy video makes my eyes glaze over. I wonder if it is diabetes or shoes?
nilesite: I do believe there is still some left! help yourself!

Pandora: It's the shoes. And the clothes. And the furniture. And the wallpaper. And the fans. But it may well also be the sweets! LOL
Alas, I too must leave the bevy of feminine pulchritude to try to study the insides of my eyelids. Remember, ladies, friends don't let friends drive drunk. Keep that coffee perking. Night all! Smooches all 'round.
thanks, PW, I am a cowardly luddite. appreciate the help. ice cream is yummy. rainbow sorbet (raspberry special favorite)

i was out blog surfing for a bit while watching charade! :-)

thanks for the hospitality, especially with all that is going down in your life!!!! thanks for the lovely tuesday night bonding!

take care all! best, libby
You all must see the excellent work Nilesite, has just published on the SEE YOUR SEA challenge and she has given such a visual history and beauty, with so many travels and feelings, that we must all see and admire. Bravo, Nilesite!!!! And she has made an excellent quote : SEA YOU LATER !!!
Just got a PM from Kate. She's been held up by work, but wants to join in the fun as soon as she can break away.
Juleee! Yeah! How DO you do that? I want to put placenta in a comment sometime! hahahah.
Moi aussi,
Bisoux à tous.
Beaux rêves
Pandora
'Bye, Lezlie! Never fear! PW has got everyone's keys, so no driving allowed until a driver is stone cold sober and can say supercalifragilisiticexpialidocious backwards, twice, without stopping.
LOL
*hands her a "doggy bag" full of leftover goodies*

Good night, Libby! It was great having you here again! We enjoyed your company.

*also hands her a "doggy bag" full of leftover goodies*

Afrodite: Yes! Let's go "sea"!
PW, oh my Cranky. ohhhh myyyyyyy, tee hee. Stathi, Open Calls kind of flip me out, I think I've only participated in two in three years. Sigh, you're too lovely so I'll come and look. Anyway I'm named after the Sea Goddess Doris. And my namesake had many children, 100 sea nymphs! Hahahahaha she bred well in captivity and I live far away from the sea. I'll pop over and have a look after poor Marie... well, you know.
Doris, I like your writing !!! Thank you, for coming !!!
Doris: Where are u in the story line?

*offers her a few mini quiches and a hot cup of coffee (decaf)*
Sorry I missed the party. Looks like a good time was had by all. Im reviewing two movies in my post tomorrow and one was in French with subtitles. "Intouchable" The other is "Hysteria" which is a good movie as it tells of the development of the vibrator. Thanks for these parties. They sure make OS feel like family.
zanelle: I love OS parties. So glad you finally had a chance to at least stop by briefly.
Mini quiche? There's also some of Fusie's wonderful coffee, along with a few pastries left.
:)
That's it, movie over but it made me realize what my life is missing. I need a petit retreat with handsome young men to play guitar to soothe me as I lay on my chaise lounge and fan myself. Also some cute lambs and someone else to tend the chickens and garden. This quiche is nummy, as is the wonderful coffee.

I remember one of the first posts of Fusuns I read was on how to make Turkish coffee. The description and photos were perfect and I couldn't wait to go to my mom's and have her make me some.

I hope things go better for you there and the fires get put out, sigh. Lovely party PW, thanks for having us all. It's really nice to belong.
Bleue, you are so right and I couldn' t agree more on your words

"" I hope things go better for you there and the fires get put out, sigh. Lovely party PW, thanks for having us all. It's really nice to belong.""

I am guessing that we all will go to bed soon, here the day has just began and I am wishing you all goodnight (kalinicta, as we say here in Greece ). Next time, I will invite my sister Olga, to join, if she can.

I needed this... It was a great night. Be well, Woman.. sorry, but you are so rich in heart,so I find it difficult to call you poor.I am wishing a dremlike night to all.
Ladies, I had a grand time with you all!
Group Hug!

*hugs one and all in big circle*

l'Huere: You are a darling. So glad you enjoyed Marie! It was lovely having you here.

Afrodite: For some reason, it took more than one (very long) try before I could get your lovely French song into my post!
But I finally was able!
:)
Have a lovely day where you are, and enjoy your sunrises and sunsets over the ocean!
I'll be thinking of you and your beautiful country....

Au revoir, ma cheri!
You ladies have all been simply grand!
I've enjoyed your input tremendously!

Until our next Chicks' Night In......

PW has left the building!
:)
