WELCOME TO A CRIPPLE'S WORLD
From here on out, this blog will carry regular contributions by the author (me), concerning how and where the disabled are inaccurately portrayed, or more often than not, simply ignored by the media.
Please feel free to read my previous posts, as this is something of a "stream of consciousness" blog, and one entry very well may, and often does depend on what has already been said.
Please be aware, I am un-PC, a bit of a smart ass, and as Rodney Dangerfield said in "Back to School"
"I don't take shit from nobody" :-D
If the things said here offend you, then so be it. I am a strong minded, strong willed man with an opinion. However, my opinion can and does change over time, as I mature and learn more about the world. So, if you are in the mood to argue, or see something you disagree with, bring it on.
Just be forewarned that what I consider "offensive" is not what the rest of the world may find offensive, and vice versa.
Okay?
Okay.
photo is "extreme sitter" Aaron Fotheringham, who can be seen on Youtube or his website, AaronFotheringham.com, where he performs many of his wheelchair skate ramp tricks
Better a truth I don't like than a lie I love. Thanks for the update, I am one of the ones who wouldn't have understood exactly why you did this. Now I have more clarity. I appreciate it, thank you. The sports stuff I don't get, but I might someday. I haven't given up on it either. If I hadn't seen the photo, extreme sitting sounded like something I might like.
I am your official OSBIC representative (Open Salon Banner Inspection Committee). Mr. Danforth of the Color Coordinating Subcommittee has determined that the surplus of black banners is giving the rest of cyberworld the impression that the Open Salon is a monotonous place and we wish to spiff up our image. He suggests mauve.
I like the new look here! Nice touch with the photo+ banner. Way cool bio as well. Let's tell every public official opposed to the proper policies for us to "bring it on!" ;-D
Sorry I've missed so much of your stuff as of late, stud. Just dropping a note to say I like the new bio, as it reads very much like a mission statement, rather than a clever attempt at being witty and cute.
While you are surfing the vacuous void of the disabled... or complaining about sh*tty hospital food, whichever....
I'm missing you. I couldn't watch the world cup without thinking about you several times. Recently, there was an open call where bloggers discussed their first comments, firsts thoughts etc...
While you've been gone, Open Salon has changed our pages and tabs. We can see who our first friend was.
I was reminded that you were my first friend. I miss you, Ryan.
We miss you. If you are anywhere near a net connection... I kept thinking about you all through the World Cup, hoping you were watching. I hope you're OK. I miss your writing and your snark and your spirit. Get better soon and get back over here.
Sumpin goin on here. The date starts in June and ends in July, but I could swear (if I ever did such a thing) that I left a message here a couple days ago welcoming you back. And now it's gone. I mean, what the hey? Talk to us, bubba!
Friends, It is with great sadness I announce Placebostudman passed away with courage, On Friday the13th (a date that would have not escaped his humor). The family wants you to know how much this blog meant to him. Over the past few days, I have looked though it and found comfort in reading his postings and your comments. PSM was my best friend from childhood. His life, color and humor are not lost in his blog, but are only a fraction of his entire personality. He was passionate, unconventional and thoughtful. He was the strongest man I have ever known. You helped enrich his life. We are grateful.

Ok. Why I felt the need to announce this is beyond me....
I'll PM you the info
:-) Ironically, this new change isn't really new. I've always done disabled in the media posts, but it appears that I need to spell it out to people.
I've been known to use it in psychological terms too, and that's the context in which I use it now
(I just hope people READ the new bio LOL )
As much as I hate to say it, yeah, I guess I am...Can one be extreme in their moderation? LOL
rated with hugs and just plain smiles
It's something we all need now and then
L'Heure-
Heck, *I* don't even understand it, so if you can, you're ahead of me LOL
Kate-
Indeed it can
nola-
Thanks
LadyH-
Exactly
Kirsty-
LOL, "They", and "Them" only exist in our deepest darkest fears played on by politicians and snake oil salesmen
Bob-
Well, not everyone around here is as tuned into me as you are
Linda-
Thanks

You know how much I worry and how much you tell me not to?
Well, you need to tell me again. What's happened?

((((Stud))))
Hopefully somewhere nice getting ready to watch the World Cup.

An octopus named Paul predicted it.
I just know how much fun you would've had, we would've had, with that, along with the vuvuzelas. And the two lost goals thanks to shitty refereeing.
Ryan, I miss you. We all miss you so much. Come back soon, dear man.
Where are you?
Missing your sassy ass.
There's a huge hole in the cosmos here without you.
