With this song, your holiday is now complete...

Rate: 12 Flag

This song came on my local classic rock station, and I knew I had to share it with you in case you were feeling that your day was lacking a vital ingredient for completion. Pretend that you are surrounded by jacked-up 4-wheel drive trucks and buggies in a mud hole with a semi-cold can of cheap beer in your hand...

Now, hit play.

I gave you the Easy Rider video version. I don't know exactly why this has become an anthem for American holidays, but you can now say your day is complete.

I'm not a redneck, but you're right...my day is now complete.
Enjoy the holiday!!

I'm heading out to a picnic with some friends - forecast is 93 and humid. I've got stuff to go on the grill, but someone else will be doing the grilling. I'm also packing 2 gallons of limeade and some dry blush wine,
For reasons of my own I prefer "Sweet Home Alabama"

It's a long tale to be told at a later date.
Freebird AND Sweet Home Alabama?
Woohoo!
This is a holiday!
-- remembering you, my brother's father I never met who died while flying a fighter plane...
Freebird, indeed.
Thanks, Phyllis : )
Hope your day is good.
I think I'll join you with a sort of similar post of my own, if that won't bother you, Phyllis. Thanks for the idea.
(Okay with you?)

ha, "in case you were feeling that your day was lacking a vital ingredient for completion. ''
dear woman, that is just about any day for me.
freebird.

My memory of that song is bittersweet. My older brother paul would visit on holidays.
Paul: “let’s have some music!”
Me( a sprout):”OK Paul”
Rock and roll. Then…a countdown to the number one song of all time.
Paul:”it’s gonna be ‘freebird’. It always is. Huh.””
Me: “good song!”
P: “not after fifty fuckin thousand times”
Me: “Oh,,”
P (as ‘freebird comes on) “fuckin good song.”
Me: “oh yes! But…I like the rolling stones better. (sucking up to his magnificent coolness:) like that album you gave me, with ‘sympathy for the devil’!”
P:’’best song ever, jimbo.”
Me (vindicated) : “Yeah.”
Freedbird…”and this bird you cannot change…”

P: “birds. Huh. Dad likes em, huh?”
Me: “mom too!”
P: “fuckin birds.”
Me: daring…”please allow me to introduce myself..”
P: “FUCK yeah, you little dwarf! Sing it! I cant sing cuz I am retarded. Sing it, kid.”

Yikes. Thanks for bringing up memories. Of the lost brother………………………………………………………..
I miss that f-er
Phyllis, this the music of choice for my FUNERAL! ;)
love it! Yup, that's a classic alright. I think it's time to wash the car, then head out to find those roadside peaches. I might add this one to the playlist

Hi! Great comments, and glad you're all having fun. I've collected 11 signatures in my campaign for town council. Got trapped by one nice old lady who talked for over an hour, had a sandwich, and now off to get a few more. Been riding my bike, just in case I don't make it to the gym. This is some work!
Yay Phyllis! And this bird you cannot change.
Have a great day Councilwoman P!
May you fly today woman!!
Free...
Holding my lighter up high....

Councilwoman? What does one of those do? *singing Free bird to myself*
Well, another day on the homestead. Amy, thanks for the Janis. Julie, town council. Local, very bottom of the rung, government. Approve expenditures, pass ordinances. I think I'm going to go look it up and see exactly what it is.
do they pay you, or do you do all that for free?
Paid. I don't know the exact figure but less than $5000 per year. Enough to help with my new fence.
