Penny & Pablo From the House of Paradise
Penny&Pablo
- Location
- Chicago,
- Birthday
- June 03
- Bio
- Our last name, which traveled with my family from Europe to South America and finally the US, literally means “from the house of paradise” and so we titled our blog. The name reminds us what’s important, to be grateful, and when times are tough, to laugh at the irony.
After five years of marriage and 11 years together, after two cities and two kids, after one dog and three apartments, we’re blogging together for the first time. We invite you to visit the house often.

He's Still 4--Even on Vacation
Aren't family vacations...full of unrealistic expectations? I was silly enough, er, delusional enough to think I might actually get some time to relax this trip. Soda for the Sippy Cup
Living in the city does indeed expose one to lots of different perspectives and opinions. The subject of parenting comes up for Pablo and I more often then I would’ve ever imagined. As singles, we walked our Northside streets with anonymity. We rarely made eye contact wit… Read full post »
The Evildoer in the Mirror
One of the things I find so limiting about religion is its myopic view of morality. The ridiculous notions of good and evil aren’t guidelines for a good life; they’re caricatures, exaggerations that carry no practical message for those of us who recognize that we are, after all, onl/… Read full post »
What Have We Learned?
It’s Saturday, September 10, 2011 and yesterday I did something I haven’t done in months; I turned off NPR (91.5 WBEZ here in our hometown) and vowed not to listen to it all weekend. In the last 3 months there hasn’t been a single morning when we didn’t turn on the/… Read full post »
The Power of Super Heroes
He knows all their names, understands the factions and hierarchies, has their monologues and mission statements memorized.
"With great power, comes great responsibility!"
Spit regularly spews from his mouth while making the "pew, pew" noises inheren… Read full post »
