Hello fiction writers of OS! Here you'll find weekly prompts for Fiction Weekend, as well as links to stories written for each Fiction Weekend Open Call._____________________ EVERYONE is welcome to participate in the open calls. THE ONLY REQUIREMENT IS TO WRITE A FICTION PIECE! __________________________________ Here's how to take part in Fiction Weekend: 1. Every Monday, a prompt will be posted here. Come by and check it out. 2. Ideally, try to write a fiction story based on the prompt. But if the prompt doesn't inspire you, you can write a story on any topic you like - THE ONLY RULE IS THAT IT HAS TO BE A WORK OF FICTION. 3. On Thursday night or Friday morning-ish, the Stories List will be posted for that week. If you've written a story, announce it in the comments section of this post. Please include a short description and the title. 4. Show support for your fellow participants: If possible, please try to read and comment on at least three stories. ________________ For more information, or if you have any questions, please see the list of links below, or feel free to contact me!__________Happy reading and writing!

Fiction Weekend Prompt for 8/10-8/12 2012

Rate: 4 Flag

This week's prompt comes from this writing prompts website:

Write a story in which a character gets carried away with a new fad.

Or, if that doesn't inspire you, write a fiction piece on any topic, in any style you want.

I'll post the Stories List Thursday night or Friday morning, and participants are free to announce their stories throughout the weekend.

REMEMBER, everyone is welcome to participate in the OS Weekend Fiction Club - the only requirement is that your piece be a work of fiction.

If you don't know what "Fiction" means in terms of this blog, please see this post for an explanation.

If you feel inspired, come join in!  For information on how, check out the basic info in the profile column, near the top left of the border of our blog.

 Happy writing!

Here in the USA...needing a distraction. My contribution this week: My Debonair Hair and Topsiders.

Every time I read the prompt something from my life flashes in my mind. So the trick is to use imagination to develop it as far as I can. The combination of fiction and reality is still fascinating to me.

Let's please try to read and comment on the people who write here. I am also wondering if calling it the Weekend Fiction Club is appropriate. Seems we all post any time during the week and that should be just fine too.
Zanelle - Some very interesting thoughts here. I agree that Weekend Fiction may not be an appropriate title, since people do tend to post their stories whenever they like. On the other hand, by making it a weekend thing, maybe readers will feel like they have a regularly scheduled, generally leisurely time to come by and read some fiction, a genre that generally isn't extremely popular on OS. You've definitely given me something to think about here...maybe we'll have a vote about this....
Hello all-- this time I was inspired by a few things that people wrote about trees, so my story doesn't exactly fit the prompt. My submission-- "On the Felling of the Donar Oak", is historical, but fictionish. A homily, in a way.
