Here you'll find weekly prompts for Fiction Weekend, as well as links to stories written for each Fiction Weekend Open Call._____________________ EVERYONE is welcome to participate in the open calls. THE ONLY REQUIREMENT IS TO WRITE A FICTION PIECE! __________________________________ Here's how to take part in Fiction Weekend: 1. Every Monday, a prompt will be posted here. Come by and check it out. 2. Ideally, try to write a fiction story based on the prompt. On Thursday night or Friday morning-ish, the Stories List will be posted for that week. If you've written a story, announce it in the comments section of this post. Please include a short description and the title. 4. Show support for your fellow participants: If possible, please try to read and comment on at least three stories. ________________ For more information, or if you have any questions, please see the list of links below, or feel free to contact me!__________Happy reading and writing!

Fiction Weekend Stories for 6/29-7/1 2012

Rate: 8 Flag

This is the place to read Fiction Weekend stories for this Friday/Saturday/Sunday - and to announce your own piece!

Stories will be posted throughout the weekend, so feel free to check back regularly for new pieces to read.

If you're participating, announce your piece with its title and a brief description in the Comments section of this post.

This week's prompt was:

Write a story in which a character unexpectedly has to take care of another character's pet.

Or, if that didn't inspire you, you could write a fiction piece on any topic, in any style you want.

Everyone is welcome to join in - if you feel inspired, go for it!

The only requirement is that a piece announced in the comments be a fiction piece.

If you're not sure what qualifies as "fiction" in terms of the Fiction Club, please read this.

For information about how to announce a story, etc, please see our "Bio" in the left margin of this page.

You have all weekend to write your story and announce it in the comments section below.

Happy writing and reading!

this week; Us....Tink and I.....
My contribution this week is a one act play, hopefully funny and maybe a little scary, called "Minding Puddikins." I hope you enjoy. R
I wrote "An Update from Holden Caulfield" (the kid in Salinger's "Catcher in the Rye", but as a grownup man), for this week's prompt. I also submitted, rather late, a work for last week, "Wolf III" which is also a continuation of my Wolf story.
"Circe"

Mrs. Morello leaves a rather unusual pet with Marek for the weekend...

Chapter six of the Acapulco Cocktail is posted, along with earlier installments. Enjoy this light escapade of teleoperator Clarity Nice in Mexican soil along with other posts.
Unfortunately I have been the taxi which has been shuffling my father in law back and forth to Jackson (an hour away) for medical treatments all week and have little to offer but Part One of "The Rainbow Maker"

I have not had time to hardly write some poetic thoughts this week nor will I next week as his adventure continues with some out patient surgery on his kidneys Monday. Tuesday it will be another trip but this time for my mother in law.

Never thought retirement would be this hectic! LOL

I get a vacation in a couple of weeks. Will wash my mind and soul while I travel to the north to see family.
Big Sleep is my short story for this week. It's hard-boiled detective fiction, set in 1936, and has a cat. At 15,000 words, it's a bit long for a single sitting so no hard feelings if you don't find the time. Happy reading!

Sorry to hear about all the medical taxi-ing you've had to do, Blinddream; hope it all works out. Sounds tough, having the droning sound of tires on pavement for hours on end to make you think and no time to put the thoughts anywhere. Know that ours are with you and yours.
My offering - "R is for Rudolph" - found here

I'll be out for a while - I hope you like my offering of a guy, a girl, and dinner plans.
Hi everyone. This week's story is called "How?" I wrote it some years ago.

Hope everyone has a nice weekend.
Another cute little story. I should really write smaltzy romance stories and just get over it. But this one made me smile. "Taking Care of Poopsie"

Finally produced something.
thanks Seth...my father-in-law gets operated on Monday for a stint in the kidneys and while that's going on my mother-in-law gets to see the cancer doctor. At least my wife's medical issue came out ok so far. It's been nuts and now my 91 year old Uncle who I'm going north to see, broke his leg two days ago. I'll be ready for my vacation trip in two weeks.
