Hello fiction writers of OS! Here you'll find weekly prompts for Fiction Weekend, as well as links to stories written for each Fiction Weekend Open Call._____________________ EVERYONE is welcome to participate in the open calls. THE ONLY REQUIREMENT IS TO WRITE A FICTION PIECE! __________________________________ Here's how to take part in Fiction Weekend: 1. Every Monday, a prompt will be posted here. Come by and check it out. 2. Ideally, try to write a fiction story based on the prompt. But if the prompt doesn't inspire you, you can write a story on any topic you like - THE ONLY RULE IS THAT IT HAS TO BE A WORK OF FICTION. 3. On Thursday night or Friday morning-ish, the Stories List will be posted for that week. If you've written a story, announce it in the comments section of this post. Please include a short description and the title. 4. Show support for your fellow participants: If possible, please try to read and comment on at least three stories. ________________ For more information, or if you have any questions, please see the list of links below, or feel free to contact me!__________Happy reading and writing!

Fiction Weekend Prompt for 6/29-7/1 2012

Rate: 6 Flag

 pet carrier

This week's prompt is:

Write a story in which a character unexpectedly has to take care of another character's pet.

Or, if that doesn't inspire you, write a fiction piece on any topic, in any style you want.

I'll post the Stories List Thursday night or Friday morning, and participants are free to announce their stories throughout the weekend.

REMEMBER, everyone is welcome to participate in the OS Weekend Fiction Club - the only requirement is that your piece be a work of fiction.

If you don't know what "Fiction" means in terms of this blog, please see this post for an explanation.

If you feel inspired, come join in!  For information on how, check out the basic info in the profile column, near the top left of the border of our blog.

 Happy writing!

No comments this time? Hmm....Hope the prompt didn't disappoint you guys....
Not in the least, Alysa. Hmm, list of possible pets: disagreeable dragon, grumpy gryphon, slobbering sabre-tooth, crotchety crocodile, Ash.
Haha! Thanks, Seth, it's good to see a comment..and one that made me chuckle, too!

I'm going to catch up on my FW reading from last weekend, tomorrow (ah, distorting time) and can't wait to read what you guys post this weekend!
If I ever create a band, "Grumpy Gryphon" is now on the list of possible names.
Fantastic. It will make a great roadie t-shirt or bass drum emblem.
Yeah, I'm still working on this one, but I'll see you later this week! Fiction ROCKS! (Ooops, maybe I shouldn't have said that . . . )
@ Seth - Definitely. Now that I think of it, it could also be the name of a Quidditch team (they have real-life leagues at some colleges). Hmm....going to propose this to my alma mater....

@Nilesite - I can't wait to read it! Especially if it's about what I think it is....
My contribution this week will be a one act play: "Minding Puddykins."
I was going to call it "Minding Tink", but I though he would claw me if I traded on his brand.
I am posting a story called Fat Cat. Fat Cat learns that helping others can help change one's perspectives and one's attitudes. And doing the right thing is never te wrong thing.
