Hello fiction writers of OS! Here you'll find weekly prompts for Fiction Weekend, as well as links to stories written for each Fiction Weekend Open Call._____________________ EVERYONE is welcome to participate in the open calls. THE ONLY REQUIREMENT IS TO WRITE A FICTION PIECE! __________________________________ Here's how to take part in Fiction Weekend: 1. Every Monday, a prompt will be posted here. Come by and check it out. 2. Ideally, try to write a fiction story based on the prompt. But if the prompt doesn't inspire you, you can write a story on any topic you like - THE ONLY RULE IS THAT IT HAS TO BE A WORK OF FICTION. 3. On Thursday night or Friday morning-ish, the Stories List will be posted for that week. If you've written a story, announce it in the comments section of this post. Please include a short description and the title. 4. Show support for your fellow participants: If possible, please try to read and comment on at least three stories. ________________ For more information, or if you have any questions, please see the list of links below, or feel free to contact me!__________Happy reading and writing!

FW Stories for 6/22-6/24 2012

Rate: 5 Flag
This is the place to read Fiction Weekend stories for this Friday/Saturday/Sunday - and to announce your own piece!

Stories will be posted throughout the weekend, so feel free to check back regularly for new pieces to read.

If you're participating, announce your piece with its title and a brief description in the Comments section of this post.

This week's prompt was:

Write a story involving a note that says:

I'm going to do it. I don't know if it will work, but I'm going to try.

Or, if that didn't inspire you, you could write a fiction piece on any topic, in any style you want.

Everyone is welcome to join in - if you feel inspired, go for it!

The only requirement is that a piece announced in the comments be a fiction piece.

If you're not sure what qualifies as "fiction" in terms of the Fiction Club, please read this.

For information about how to announce a story, etc, please see our "Bio" in the left margin of this page.

You have all weekend to write your story and announce it in the comments section below.

Happy writing and reading!

Installment five of the Acapulco Cocktail is posted along with earlier installments. Enjoy this light read along with the other posts this week.
My contribution this week is "The Writer": this is a tough way to make a living.
Was a hectic week for me and having said that, I've posted a piece which I wrote around 2001.

"The Cherub" is the title but it is a long piece of 19,000 plus words. Long for me...a walk in the park for Seth. (Yes...I'm busting your stones!)

Anyway...I'll understand if you do not have time to read it and still send you a Christmas Card regardless. ;)
I'm in with "Sarah and Margaret." A family mystery and a kindred spirit.
Fox Manner is my story this week. Set in a fantastic version of an Albion-like world, it is the humorous tale of a daring woman seeking her impetuous brother, defying evil knights, and solving a murder mystery. Though I'm not on Gerald's level when it comes to humor, I've dragged things down to my level and hopefully you'll get a chortle or two out of it (at least from the names). Happy reading!
this week =Adrift....
"The Note" Short but not too sweet.
I am so BUMMED that I had nothing finished. I had a grinding workweek and a miserable head-cold (THAT's what I get for taking work seriously). I do wish that I could have transcribed my fever dreams (I was helping a Chinese revolutionary). Now my draft notion is haunting me. I hope I can combine it with the coming prompt. I'll be readin' y'all soon.
ASH - Sorry to hear you're not well - I hope you feel better soon, and respect for still writing!
Finally got something written. Another installment for "Wolf".

My submission is called "Fat Cat." Doing the right thing is always the right thing...
