Hello fiction writers of OS! Here you'll find weekly prompts for Fiction Weekend, as well as links to stories written for each Fiction Weekend Open Call._____________________ EVERYONE is welcome to participate in the open calls. THE ONLY REQUIREMENT IS TO WRITE A FICTION PIECE! __________________________________ Here's how to take part in Fiction Weekend: 1. Every Monday, a prompt will be posted here. Come by and check it out. 2. Ideally, try to write a fiction story based on the prompt. But if the prompt doesn't inspire you, you can write a story on any topic you like - THE ONLY RULE IS THAT IT HAS TO BE A WORK OF FICTION. 3. On Thursday night or Friday morning-ish, the Stories List will be posted for that week. If you've written a story, announce it in the comments section of this post. Please include a short description and the title. 4. Show support for your fellow participants: If possible, please try to read and comment on at least three stories. ________________ For more information, or if you have any questions, please see the list of links below, or feel free to contact me!__________Happy reading and writing!

This week's prompt is:

Write a story involving a note that says:

I'm going to do it. I don't know if it will work, but I'm going to try.

Or, if that doesn't inspire you, write a fiction piece on any topic, in any style you want.

I'll post the Stories List Thursday night or Friday morning, and participants are free to announce their stories throughout the weekend.

REMEMBER, everyone is welcome to participate in the OS Weekend Fiction Club - the only requirement is that your piece be a work of fiction.

If you don't know what "Fiction" means in terms of this blog, please see this post for an explanation.

If you feel inspired, come join in!  For information on how, check out the basic info in the profile column, near the top left of the border of our blog.

 Happy writing!

Orville to Wilbur - I'm going to do it. I don't know if it will work, but I'm going to try.
Steel to Alysa....ditto...
hey Alysa....since we are such a relatively small group on here....how bout a annual vote for top ten? i've read some amazingly good stories here that should be recognized....
Hi Steel, I like your idea about the top ten and had thought of something like that myself, but then I thought, I don't want the OS FW Club to become competitive in any way. It's a tough call, but I just feel like this should be a place for growth and expression, no judging or anything. But I totally understand where you're coming from. It's a tough call....
Alysa....i get that...but i'm gonna show my !GASP! prejudice here.....i think from a lifetime of reading them ...most fiction writers are more interested in kicking our imaginations off the beaten path, than awards.....but i understand ur pov....thx for listening....
Maybe so, Steel. I'd just be worried that any sense of competition would change the open, relaxed ambiance of the OS FW Club. But, again, I understand. And thanks for the suggestion.
I wouldn't mind encouraging a little self-promotion though. I'd like to read posts from a while ago that writers thought were among their better efforts.

I'm in for this one with a friendly ghost and a family mystery.
