Hello fiction writers of OS! Here you'll find weekly prompts for Fiction Weekend, as well as links to stories written for each Fiction Weekend Open Call._____________________ EVERYONE is welcome to participate in the open calls. THE ONLY REQUIREMENT IS TO WRITE A FICTION PIECE! __________________________________ Here's how to take part in Fiction Weekend: 1. Every Monday, a prompt will be posted here. Come by and check it out. 2. Ideally, try to write a fiction story based on the prompt. But if the prompt doesn't inspire you, you can write a story on any topic you like - THE ONLY RULE IS THAT IT HAS TO BE A WORK OF FICTION. 3. On Thursday night or Friday morning-ish, the Stories List will be posted for that week. If you've written a story, announce it in the comments section of this post. Please include a short description and the title. 4. Show support for your fellow participants: If possible, please try to read and comment on at least three stories. ________________ For more information, or if you have any questions, please see the list of links below, or feel free to contact me!__________Happy reading and writing!

This week's prompt is:

Write a story about an unusual Father's Day gift.

Or, if that doesn't inspire you, write a fiction piece on any topic, in any style you want.

I'll post the Stories List Thursday night or Friday morning, and participants are free to announce their stories throughout the weekend.

REMEMBER, everyone is welcome to participate in the OS Weekend Fiction Club - the only requirement is that your piece be a work of fiction.

If you don't know what "Fiction" means in terms of this blog, please see this post for an explanation.

If you feel inspired, come join in!  For information on how, check out the basic info in the profile column, near the top left of the border of our blog.

 Happy writing!

I remember that song! "O mein Papa war eine wunderbare Clown, O mein Papa war eine schöne Mann." Real tearjerker. But I am looking forward to this prompt too!
Hey you two, I'm the one living in Germany. Why are you guys stealing all my lines? We don't call it the Fatherland for nothing!

Bailing on this one, I'm afraid. Daddy issues.
So I'm not bailing out entirely, but I have dibs on Roethke.
V. Corso - I did worry when I posted this that it might not appeal to everyone. But remember, this is fiction - you can write about any kind of family or father you want, no worries.
Just embracing my new-found German ancestry. My three times great grandfather was not a clown actually, but a carpenter. Ach du liebe!
Lots of ways this could go....
My Father's Day contribution, going up tomorrow, will be a fishing yarn called "The Feathery Thingamajig."
Mine's up.

A wedding. After all , it's June.
my attempt this week is .....Home...
I am writing a sequel to my story about the wolf. It contains some material about my character Frank's father. I guess that follows the prompt, in a way. I will call the story Wolf II, for now.
