Hello fiction writers of OS! Here you'll find weekly prompts for Fiction Weekend, as well as links to stories written for each Fiction Weekend Open Call._____________________ EVERYONE is welcome to participate in the open calls. THE ONLY REQUIREMENT IS TO WRITE A FICTION PIECE! __________________________________ Here's how to take part in Fiction Weekend: 1. Every Monday, a prompt will be posted here. Come by and check it out. 2. Ideally, try to write a fiction story based on the prompt. But if the prompt doesn't inspire you, you can write a story on any topic you like - THE ONLY RULE IS THAT IT HAS TO BE A WORK OF FICTION. 3. On Thursday night or Friday morning-ish, the Stories List will be posted for that week. If you've written a story, announce it in the comments section of this post. Please include a short description and the title. 4. Show support for your fellow participants: If possible, please try to read and comment on at least three stories. ________________ For more information, or if you have any questions, please see the list of links below, or feel free to contact me!__________Happy reading and writing!

Fiction Weekend Stories for 5/4-5/6 2012

Rate: 5 Flag

This is the place to read Fiction Weekend stories for this Friday/Saturday/Sunday - and to announce your own piece!

Stories will be posted throughout the weekend, so feel free to check back regularly for new pieces to read.

If you're participating, announce your piece with its title and a brief description in the Comments section of this post.

This week's prompt was based on an idea from this writing prompt site:

Write a story that begins with the line: "Listen carefully," he said, "this won't be easy for you to hear"....

(If necessary, you can, of course, replace "he" with "she").

Or, if that didn't inspire you, you could write a fiction piece on any topic, in any style you want.

Everyone is welcome to join in - if you feel inspired, go for it!

The only requirement is that a piece announced in the comments be a fiction piece.

If you're not sure what qualifies as "fiction" in terms of the Fiction Club, please read this.

For information about how to announce a story, etc, please see our "Bio" in the left margin of this page.

You have all weekend to write your story and announce it in the comments section below.

Happy writing and reading!

Implanted Memory is my short story for this week. Waking up strapped to a bed, John Dayton struggles between the memories in his head and the pronouncements of his trusted superior about what truly happened to him. Espionage, questions of identity and thought, and an image of a future dangerously close to our present set the stage for this psychological, Sci-Fi thriller. Though this is a stand-alone story, if you've read my earlier story CompAn, some of the technology in this new story may seem familiar. Enjoy and happy reading!
The latest chapter of Sun on the Rocks - the Malibu Case, 14, is posted, along with earlier parts of this carefree episode. Enjoy the escapade of teleoperator Clarity Nice and her friends, and see what happens because they didn´t listen carefully to Malibu police officer Packwood.
Hum...Positive I posted early, for once. Oh well, a bit of "Practice makes Perfect" is all you need to know.
My contribution this week is a one act play: "Lunch with Leo."
pastrami, pathos and pickles are on the menu. Pull up a bench and join us.
"The Miniscules" is my short story.
Women, I bring to you a new Commandment.

Just posted mine now. =o)
Hi, everyone! This week's story is "Second Class Angel." It's about stopping suicides in Tokyo.
I'm in!

... about a dysfunctional trio, a waitress, and a Dutch accent chick. I was inspired by Leo and Insanity!
My story, "Cohabitation", involves a hostage crisis and a talking bobcat with a gun. Grrr!
Listen Carefully.....Some great stories this weekend. Wow. I only got a B in writing in college. But I enjoy it anyway and hope you like my little tale of intrigue.
My comment got eaten!! My story is called "Insanity" short and sweet....
I'm ba-ack! http://open.salon.com/blog/nilesite/2012/05/06/larrys_rosary_weekend_fiction

Sisters and a gold box.
I like the idea of this group! I have a few fiction pieces that I wanted people to read, but were not seen by many people. I am looking forward to reading fiction from this forum, and I'll be glad to reciprocate readings/comments, etc. The fiction I have in my blog already are: "Welcome to the Club Dumas", "The Last Republican in the World", and "Letters from Wm. McKinley, from Beyond the Grave."
