On The Way

Rate: 5 Flag

the wind tonight
sounds like a person
playing the flute badly
It is probably a gate's
rusted swinging iron
sends this singing
to jar my ear's peace
the laundry load is
balanced on my hip
the week's coverings
my husband's shirts
my son's pants
my daughter's
blue dress
the frost whispered
away in the sun
and the walk is brief
my shoes clopping
like horse's hooves
the moss on the wall
curls neon green
in the lamp's gelid
amber eye
the clouds in the night
are lamb fleeces
I am counting sheep

Vivid images...thanks for the sweet poem
Wow! I walked through this poem, staying present to each word. So well crafted!
I am a music teacher... I teach band (including beginning band) and choir... I love all the sounds in your poem... I can hear them all so clearly...
