Wisconsin Wisconsin Wisconsin
Debbie Wasserman-Schultz and Bill Clinton have done the advance work.
Don't see how Obama can pass up a trip to WI, especially since he was in the Twin-Cities yesterday.
Now it's bases loaded, 2 out, bottom of the 9th, the game's on the line.
Only four possible outcomes:
1) Obama stays home and Tom Barrett Wins Tuesday. Obama walks with the bases loaded. A huge "walk-off" win for the team: Dems, Obama, Liberals, Unions, Debbie W-S, both Clintons, Ed Schultz -- much dancing w/high 5s all around. But Bill Clinton, not Obama, gets credit for the turnaround upset. Obama loses some leadership creds.
2) Obama stays home and Scott Walker Wins. Obama strikes out looking. Worst scenario for the Prez. Monster win for Repubs, Conservatives, Rush Limbaugh, Tea Party. Momemtum shift gives Romney a real shot at taking Wisconsin and more. Privately, Dems think woulda-should-coulda and this dogs Obama all the way to November.
3) Obama shows and Barrett Wins. A Grand Slam for Obama. Same winners as #1, only bigger. The whole Dem team wins, but Obama can rightfully claim his presence made the difference. Negative momentum from Friday's job report is instantly reversed. Totally re-establishes Obama's leadership and campaign gamesmanship -- the magic is back, it's his re-election to lose.
4) Obama shows and Walker Wins (Most probable scenario): Obama strikes out swinging. A stinging loss for Dems, Unions, etc. But Obama (like Clinton and Wasserman-Schultz) can say he fought the good fight. Obama has 5 months to snap the losing streak -- makes the coming SCOTUS ObamaCare decision even bigger.
It's clear from these scenarios that Obama is much better off visiting WI than staying at home. Less to lose, more to gain.
When you gotta go, you gotta go!
