At last an update
When I google my name, the link at the top of the list is this Open Salon blog from the time Cary was in the hospital. I apologize for not sticking with the updates but a) I'm not a writer, so the act of blogging is tough going… Read full post »
Cary's been denied!!
Sigh. Well, I've finally got something new to report, but sadly it's frustrating news. After going 'round in circles with our gp and the insurance company for over a month and a half, Blue Shield, our insurance company, has decided to deny our claim to cover Cary's radiation therapy.
Meanwhile… Read full post »
Yes, I know it's been a while
Hello again! I'm sorry I've been away from the blog for so long. After taking a month off from work to look after Cary, I've had a lot to catching up to do. Truthfully, I've been rather swamped and stressed.
And, in addition to Cary's illness, my darling poodle, Lola (I… Read full post »
Time marches on...
I wanted to start this post off by thanking everyone for their kind comments. Although I haven't been able to reply to many, I have read them all and have gotten a wealth of support and valuable information from them. Ever since Cary left the hospital my time's been divided between… Read full post »
Little by little...
Sorry to take so long to write another post. There hasn't been much going on besides Cary's slow, steady recovery.
Cary's able to do more and more things on his own--he even requested I buy him one of those grabber things, as he can't bend, sit or twist. He's grabbing… Read full post »
Thanks!
Just a quick note to say thanks for all the good wishes and the pain-pill advice. The advice is very, very helpful!
Before we leaving the hospital, Cary was instructed to take 1-2 percocets every 4 hours, and 1-2 oxycodons every 2 hours if needed for breakthrough pain. Well, we… Read full post »
Clear margins--yipee!!
Hi all!
Just wanted to let you know that our neurosurgeon called yesterday with the pathology report and the tumor was removed with clear margins. For those of you not well-versed in the language of cancer, this is a very good thing. Now we're just waiting for Cary to heal up… Read full post »
Up and Around
Ok, for the past hour or so Cary's been wandering around the house dealing with bills, taking out the recycling, sweeping the deck--even trying to reorganize my office for me. I feel little embarrassed about my original posts on this blog--they now seem so overly dramatic!! I guess our surgeons' prev… Read full post »
A Christmas Miracle?
Sorry not to have posted for such a long time--there's been so much going on. To make a long story short: Cary was sent home from the hospital Christmas Day. Because he was able to to walk up and down 8 stairs, our insurance will no longer pay for hospital care.… Read full post »
Another video
Ok, I'm dog tired right now, but Cary wanted me to upload another rather silly video tonight, so here it is:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6N3EucFMZaM
Cary keeps getting better everyday. He's still in the icu, but tomorrow will be the big day when he gets moved to a normal room. We'll miss the… Read full post »
Day 6
Hello again,
I had to take a break from the blog yesterday--there's just too much going on!
Cary is still in the ICU, but we're hoping that he'll finally be moved to the regular part of the hospital today or tomorrow. All the icu nurses have been wonderful--I must admit… Read full post »
Ok, this is probably silly...
but Cary wanted me to post this video. It's his last goodbye before he went into surgery. Hope this works:

He's doing well and is in incredibly good spirits. They even took out another tube today--yippee!
Not much more to add today. I'm hoping he'll be leav… Read full post »
Cary's in the ICU and in good spirits
Hi there,
I'm just taking a short brake from hanging with Cary at the ICU. The first thing he asked when I saw him this morning was if there were any visitors, (which is so Cary).
Honestly, after what he went through yesterday, I can't believe he looks as good as… Read full post »
Backing up a bit
First of all: I'm nowhere near the writer Cary is, so please forgive all typos, etc. from my posts. I'm also writing when I'm tired and in a hurry.
I'm off to the hospital soon, but I woke up with thinking that it's possible that some of Cary's readers might not… Read full post »
Very quick update
This is going to be a very quick update as I'm dead tired right now. Cary's surgery went a little more quickly than expected--it ended at 8:30 rather than 11 as predicted. When the two neurosurgeons had finished their part of the procedure, they reported back to me with big smiles… Read full post »
Quick Intro
Hi, this is Norma, the wife of Cary Tennis.
For the next few weeks (hopefully not months) I'm going to try my best update Cary's readers with information on his progress.
At the moment, Cary and I are scrambling to prepare for his surgery on Thursday so this has… Read full post »
