you say you want to die
how can this possibly be?
have you looked in every corner
under every rock
for the dazzling colors defined
in blinding light?
or is it only shadows that are visible?
I consider who you are
I know there are secrets
that wait to unfold for you and yet
I find it nearly easy to look at you
child of moon music
noisy stars and time machines
why do you wish to wander away?
is there something you know I don't?
I think you are curious
yet you pose no questions
about the living dying
or the dying who live
do you know the difference?
if you do speak the words
say them aloud
tell me the truth of death and
the rewards that wait
for I have not seen or heard any evidence
from those who might tell us
lying beneath
in perfect stillness
not a word do they whisper
not even one

Oh my (reading tags).. hope this is not based on . . well you know
You should post this at oursalon.ning.com where the chief benevolent dictator-ess is a poet (ess). Bet she'd even feature it.
I don't think those who consider suicide do so for any rewards but rather just to be free of excruciating pain. This was very moving.
I shall read it again, and hope to see what you meant to convey. then again, I'm not sober right now so...probably not a good probablity of success.
not to worry...this topic came up and I felt like writing about it.
trig I might but I signed up and havent done a damned thing to make any of it mine which I am compelled to do if I post there.
Chicken, I am not the one any zombie wants to mess with. I'm old and tough, literally. :D
Fernsie, they DO wander away if you don't catch them sometimes. And they'll tell you...they're miserable, please help. It's up to the adults to listen to them, however scrambled their message (cause kids are very scrambly, when it comes to communication sometimes.)
catch...yes..unfold the quiet. :D I like that.
Doug,,,when I get a thought, I go with it. It means what it means..if there is merit in death then someone is going to have to fill me in on it, because as far as I'm concerned, death is an empty can of nothing much. And not nearly as nice as being alive, however hellish life can sometimes be.
