this is - I think - the beginning of a longer poem. I'm not exactly sure but I suspect more needs to be said.

what's funny is this started as two but became one. and what's curious to me is that it did not start out sad or abysmal, so to speak, but that's where it went and I'm fine with it.

I've said this countless times, I have no idea what I'm writing or why. I didn't think I even wanted to write a poem. but I happened to read one and then ::blink:: I wrote one. I feel very out of the loop when it comes to this end of creation for me. it's quite unintentional.

I am uncomfortable in my own skin now. It's completely meteorological, but sometimes I am a hot house flower and I wilt.

This poem was completely necessary for me to read.
Why do we write poetry? Who knows? Perhaps the gods inhabit us for a few moments and leave words as mementos.

I don't see it as sad or abysmal. A huge cry to find out if "someone" is out there.

Lovely, tight, evocative writing. Some really powerful images, the kind the reader gets to process through their own reality. "Heaviness of heaven" and "all hells above" turn our usual cosmology on its head. Things are airborne, and yet oppressive. To me, it speaks of risk, of attempting to and reaching the limits of your flight, and of needing to go further and not knowing how to find that loft. I love a poem that is so focused yet gives me some room to read it as it applies to my experience.

I like the "spongy face" of the moon, too--hadn't thought of it that way before, but you're absolutely right about the texture. But "spongy" also makes it soft, which the "vaporous halos" accentuate, leaving us with the moon as even more malleable than mutable. Fascinating!

I am acrophobic and this aggravated my anxiety. Do you have liability insurance...wooooo...I almost put a question mark on that but...suddenly I felt better...wait, now I'm feeling lost and claustrophobic... You poets! Always gotta push the limbic buttons!
