Oklahoma skies

Rate: 10 Flag

You haunt me with your discord

I know not what you stir

Within your clouds and dust

Yet underneath the rainbows

That follows the storm

My friend

Lies sleeplessly

Hidden underneath blankets

To hide her from the breaks and bounds

Of thunder

Please keep her safe

For her fear is endless

As she cries for a past she cannot escape

And future she does not know…

We used to sit upon the rooftop

Of an old rented house

Recalling dreams we held so high

Rain washing away tears

Finding smiles only we can divulge

Yet now, our past is behind us

And the future

Hidden amidst

The unknown

Oklahoma skies…

We have had more strange looking skies here lately than I can ever remember. I have never been to Oklahoma but I am sure this poem brings me closer.

Hope your friend is okay.

Finally added you as a favorite. I thought that I already had. :/
Loved the blend of the skies and life in this MCS.
wondrously woven.
Thanks p! And mission I'm not mcs Altho love her writing!
This resonates for me as a recognition of Nature's dangerous fickleness and as an allegory for the daily struggles our uncertain times impose. Provocative, moving poem, Michelle.
I really loved the analogy./r
Beautiful Michelle. I felt the emotion in this piece. I am terrified of storms and whenever they come through my part of the world I am a mess. Nature is powerful. Love how you blended together storms with the parallel of life itself. Nice job.
Beautiful words, I hope your friend finds better times soon
