Fire

Rate: 8 Flag

Unspoken words

Amidst a half full glass of wine

You gave your support

Filling my glass that was once

Half empty

Yet now I find myself

Filling the glass

With dreams

Hopes

And false praise

Those triumphs are muddled

And clouded

By a past I can’t erase

Yet I know I need to move forward

So please

Let me fill my glass

And negate the negative forces

That haunt me.

Your support is no longer needed

For I now

Fuel my own

FIRE.

It's hard to get a full perspective of a person from a blog, but I think I am finally hearing you. I look at the surface- the career, husband, kids, friends- all things that I have internalized as success, and I think you've got it made. But I finally am understanding that underneath, you struggle like the rest of us. I went back through your older posts, too, and reread them with new eyes.

Thanks for sharing your journey and helping me with mine. I have GOT to get my internal script rewritten.

Keep burning.
Fuel your own fire...a great phrase and way to live!
Michelle, your poem and Phyllis's comment are a good match. They not only complement each other, they add insight to the whole.
Wow Phyllis. I'm truly
Touched. Thank you dearly from my heart.
:0)

(Words are awkward right now. I'll come back.)
fire is good
"that knows what it is, that knows it's neither
ice nor mud nor winter light
but wood, with a gift for burning"
Let me fill my own glass....independence is good but we do need just one someone in our live. Just one. The rest can go away...
Fire comes and fire goes and who knows... fire returns and is present in your verse. Bravo!
I do have my "one" Zanelle. So true!! Xoxo
Keep the fires hot
I admire the honesty in your writing
I admire your strength
Would love to sit and share a glass of wine with you
