Mexican press has emphasized that a recent hotel explosion killing four Canadian tourists and two hotel workers, was not a terrorist attempt. Mainstream papers have quoted police investigators who say there is no evidence of fuses or devices pointing to terrorism. They have quoted santiation inspectors explaining that a faulty sewage system caused a collection of fumes which led to the explosion. Apparently, faulty construction methods made this happen. The press is saying, it is not terrorism, it is not terrorism, it is not terrorism.
I will be a little bit sarcastic now. Canadian tourists and others, including local workers, now can feel relieved that when they get killed by explosions in Mexico, it will be because of incompetence and corruption, but not by terrorism. What a relief!
