I'm nobody important and there's nothing uniquely interesting about me. My blog is intended as planting a free market, conservative flag on Salon Island. I want to be a bit provocative and will attempt to present a counter-counter-culture view. The blog name is based on the idea that the 1960's should not be viewed as only a time when the young pushed change against conservative norms. The 60's were as much represented by law and order shows such as Hawaii Five O. Conservative waves continued through the 80's and into this day. Salon tends to represent the desire to overcome the conservative waves. I will playfully join the debate here to see whether I hit the beach or hit the rocks.

Life in Obamaville - Behind the Statistics

Rate: 3 Flag

A few days ago I posted about how many people have dropped out of the labor force under Obama.

Monday night, HBO showed a documentary that put a face to those people that don't count any more while Obama claims a bad jobs report is heading in the right direction.  The below link takes you to a synopsis.

http://www.hbo.com/documentaries/hard-times-lost-on-long-island/index.html#/documentaries/hard-times-lost-on-long-island/synopsis.html

It's a shame that this only gets shown on a premium cable service.  In the past, I would have expected that the mainstream media would be pounding a message about how bad the economy is for people.  I have a friend who has been living off his retirement savings as he has been through 3 jobs in 3 years with two of the companies going bankrupt.

Obama is a disaster.

The numbers show it.

The individual stories of people show it.

Disaster.  Disaster.  Disaster.

A nice political ad, but not the kind of thing to be taken seriously. Republicans tank the economy in a once-in-3 generations massive financial collapse, now it's Obama's fault. The same lame accounting of employment numbers benefits whichever party is in the White House, but you seemed to have missed that Congress has some responsibility.
Anyway, good luck with this combination of trite contrived outrage and short term history amnesia. The faithful will lap it up, but most Americans still properly blame Bush for this mess, which is another reason Romney is having problems. At this point they'd rather have Clinton II than Bush, The Sequel.

The Sequel. The Sequel. The Sequel.
Bush ourspent Obama by leagues of $$$... This and the ObamaScare campaign is the most blatant wave of disinformation in American history.

Here you go: Where's Obama's real birth certificate?

How many great parent do most people have?

How many does Romney have? Now, it'll get real interesting when he answers to this. Of course, who cares where he hides.
Hides out ...
He is a foot note already.
InThis,

I'm not sure what point you are trying to make but my best guess is that none of it has any connection to improving the economy so that people have jobs again.

Obama was to improve things for people and he has failed. Rather express your anger at irrelevancies, you might try actually caring that millions of your fellow Americans are struggling.
I certainly oppose Obama's timidity in not putting together a big enough stimulus package. But the "Our first and only priority is to make BO a one term POTUS" Republican Congress goes a long way towards explaining the mess that we're in right now.
Thanks for this valuable post. Rated.

What the static fails to understand is that Obama won the presidency on the basis of fraudulent claims about what HE could do to solve the problems he inherited. With complete congressional support for two years, he did nothing that improved the situation.

It's a pity that the power of the people, as flexed in 2010, couldn't have purged the White House as well as the House of Representatives of these misguided incompetents. November of this year is the time to finish the job and start creating some for those willing to work.
ONL, Americans voted for Republicans to counter balance Obama's first two years. When Obama goes around repeatedly saying that the R's won't let him do what he wants, there are some logical observations/questions:

1. Is Obama such a poor leader and negotiator that the only way he can get things done is to be a dictator? Soumds like he is a weakling.

2. He is essentially declaring that millions of Americans who disagree with him are obstructionists since it was Americans that voted for the R's.

3. He doesn't learn anything when results are different than he seeks.

Gordon, you say it well. Americans voted for Obama to make things better. He has not come close.
