  menopausal

You may find yourself sitting on a sandy beach

And you may find yourself wondering how to pass the time on that sandy beach

And you may find yourself reaching into your beach bag for the books you brought to read

And you may find yourself looking at several books and one of them is different

And you may ask yourself, well, how did this get here?

Flipping the pages by, as you read Linda's words

Flipping the pages by, her words making you laugh

Menopausal Woman From the Corn it is

Once on a perfect day, she makes you laugh and then cry

You may ask yourself, how could I be so blessed?

And you may ask yourself, where does she get her ideas?

And you may ask yourself, why did I bring those other books

And you may tell yourself, those books don't make me laugh and cry

Flipping the pages by, reading Seccaspina's words

Flipping the pages by, letting them make you laugh and cry

Same as it never was...same as it never was...same as it never was...same as it never was...

Same as it never was...same as it never was...same as it never was...same as it never was...

Flipping the pages by, as you read Linda's words,

Letting the pages fly, Seccaspina's wit is wry

Watching her thinking riff, amused by Linda's unique gift

Keeping the pages dry, as Seccaspina makes you cry...

Matt, a great review, Linda's work is great both in images and in writing! Bravo, for doing this!!!
I took on Ginsburg you took on the talking heads. Great mind,s or just silly souls ... think alike?
I'm sure this book is terrific. I plan to get my meaty paws on in soon. Terrific, generous, and inventive review. Matt.
Xooo to both you and Linda
Meant to order this for the longest time but keep procrastinating. Will do. I've followed Linda's development as a writer like the rest of us. She seems like a truly warm and unique woman who has blossomed in her prime and appreciates life in all its messy glory. Nice of you to promote this.
the title alone makes me jealous. another great review like only you can write 'em, mattie.
She is a marvel. When I got the book, I was reading something else (no, not yours) and put it down. I had a ball reading her, just as I do on her blogs. I am so glad I have met her and grown to love her. She is my pal and a very nice and caring person. You don't get much better.
This is one of the most unique book reviews I have ever read Matt.
You have given us a peek at the heart of a book and not just the nuts and bolts synopsis of the collected words. Thanks for the read, my friend.
Matt,on you go with your stage performance as a rap singer/speaker.
Boy,you made it into the top range.
I've gone to google to see if I am correct:Yes,it is Rap Music, and it is older than one would expect it to be.

Rated for your ability to use a new/old medium to illustrate your point.
Thanks, friends. I hadn't intended to do such an unusual review but for some reason that damned song crawled into my ear and wouldn't get rid of the hypnotic melody and David Byrne's bizarre recitation. At some point I just accepted that this was how it had to be. I Finished the book last night in bed before turning out the light, and nearly cracked a rib laffing at Linda's penultimate story, the book's title story, when I got to this: I have gastrointestinal distress, as they call it, and random air comes out of places it should not. Sometimes it gets so bad I honestly think I could be sent out for hire at a local party shop to inflate balloons.

I experienced the opposite emotion at the end of the book's last story, about being kissed on the lips by a little neighbor boy at age 7: He never did kiss me again, but I will forever remember that heartfelt affection as my first kiss. Fifty-three years later I wonder if he still picks raspberries and kisses his wife, tasting of warm fresh jam. Maybe some days he thinks back to the day he kissed the little blonde-haired girl with her strained red lips, because she still remembers that kiss to this day. It wasn't my lips he kissed - it was my soul.

Thank you, Afrodite. You would love Linda's book.

Yeah, Ferns, we were in sync today, weren't we. "Silly souls" works for me. We need more silliness in this world and fewer tears. Thanks for the kinds words.

Hi, Lea. I wasn't sure a book about female menopause would be right for me except as a guide for self-defense tactics, but knowing Linda's writing as I do from here and on Zoomers, I had no doubt I'd enjoy it. You will, too.

Tks, Sheila.

Aw, shucks, Daisy Jane...makin' me blush...

Scanman, I didn't know you and Linda had met. Now I'm jealous!

Thanks, Tor, it's most unusual one I've written. Glad it worked for you.
Thank you, Heidi. I didn't realize it was a rap song. It can definitely stick with you if you're not careful.
Ifs you have been influenced by this group, well I don't know if they consider themselves as rappers.

As I went on reading your words before listening to the video,I picked up the rap rhythm and the overlapping of music and text, and the staccato.
This is what I meant when I left my comment above.

Linda will be thrilled with this clever review of her book.

Lezlie
Very creative and clever review. It will be my first purchase when I get my IPad next week. R
I was either working too hard in the 70's and 80's or my memory is worse that I thought, because I didn't put this together until I listened to the song. Linda will love it though.
You are some kind of guy. Now everyone and his brother's gonna write a book just so you'll review them.
Heidi, I suppose you could call the Talking Heads precursors to rap. I think they're much more musical than the average rap group.

Hope so, Lezlie. She might have wanted something at tad more conventional, but she knows me. She's been pretty busy today visiting her sons in Canada. Probly no time to check the Internet.

Thanks, Gerald. You'll get a kick out of it.

Tks, Jon.

JL, you been able to get the damned song out of your head yet? It's been bugging me since I heard it on the radio Thursday, I believe.

Yours is the one I'm waiting for, Margaret.
[r] HAH!!! Great review, great video. Thanks. Matt, your generosity and imagination awes! Linda's title and cover is already a pull! best, libby
Matt, the fascinosum about rap today is that it is not really music;it has beat in the background ,maybe part of it is music, too, but the main idea behind rap is that it is supposed to deliver a message, and that is what you have done yesterday, unknowingly using rap-technique.
I'm looking for Peri-Menopausal Women of the Corn. My wife isn't menopausal yet.
This is excellent! I've never sang a review before!
A quirky review for a quirky (and, as you point out, moving) book! Great job!
This is extremely clever, Matt, so I don't believe for a second that you wrote it. You are right, though - Linda's book is perfect for the beach. Reading it is like getting together with a good friend you haven't seen in a while, pouring a few glasses of wine, and telling nice, juicy stories.
As you know I am on hiatus for the summer due to issues..
BUT I had no idea it was on here. You were wonderful enough to put it on Zoomers but this is above and beyond my friend.
Above and beyond.
HUGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG
Thank you
That's a great review...many thanks for doing it!
