Lost Worlds - Nature Shots in Southern Utah.

Rate: 2 Flag

These shots are out in a place where I used to live, my home was kind of the hub and we could go in any direction to visit these wondrous sites.  They are quiet places of raw beauty and you definately feel a communication with nature and the Great Creator out here.  Many of these spots are very sacred and draw you into that place.  The area is mostly red sandstone mountains with this shiney, black surface I have learned they call Desert Varnish.  The two colors combined make a stunning contrast.  I will keep adding more photos.... (tried and it won't let me add more.)

beautiful! these are amazing photos marycatherine, i love them all, especially the anasazi rock carvings; i've seen very similar ones myself in the four corners area.

one of my favorite places in the world, someplace i'd love to live someday, is the colorado plateau, especially southern utah. i first heard about it from reading ed abbey's books, especially "desert solitaire" and "the monkey wrench gang." i've been several times since then, always using moab utah as a base of operations to explore the amazing canyonlands and arches and colorado river and maze areas. i wish i was there right now!
Thank you both for your comments. The photos, of course, can't replace the strong energy that just fills you up when standing in these places. I need to go back often and find my strength.
