Redesigning Web sites often just makes them more cluttered in my opinion. Earlier Web designs, while simplistic, had a very clean look. Now, it's overkill with tabs and popups and blogrolls and multiple icons and gazillions of links and countless apps and those ever-multiplying ads.
It's amazing how fast technology evolves. ;)
