Classic movie posters, reimagined

Rate: 6 Flag

I love love love TCM's "Summer Under the Stars" and their elegant, quirky new takes on classic films.

I'm not saying this isn't good:

magnificent seven poster

But I do like the fresh take.

Check out all the beautiful artwork at TCM, and then ask yourself why contemporary movie posters are still so crap.

I love how the new one reminds you of Seven Samurai, of which it was a remake. The fenceposts suggesting Kanji calligraphy is brilliant.
Wow, those are very cool. I especially like the ones for "The Big Heat" and "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde".

And you're right, that "Transformers" poster is crap.
Very good. But I like the contemporary ones as well. They usually produce a range of styles for different movies.
I'm with Floyd; what a great idea. Now if they put Toshiro Mfune in silhouette in the background somehow . . .
Those are great!! Thanks for posting this here. I liked Dr Strangelove quite a bit, too.

Only nit: why don't they have a "Next" button so you can easily move from one to the next vs. having to go back to the thumbnails??
have you ever seen polish movie posters? they're incredible. i stopped in a shop in la last year, and i'm hooked.

Those posters are fanTAStic! Rosemary's Baby is freaking me out.
Many of the contemporary posters try too hard and are too busy, but there are still some good ones out there.

These TCM remake posters are brilliant. "The Big Heat" is my fave of the bunch.
