Bio
I live & write in Southern California. I would like to buy a little monkey if they are not too expensive and put him in the basket of my poetry bicycle then ride around in big, lazy circles while wearing a pair of combat boots and a sun dress with no panties. ______________________________________ I have published and been published, but what matters most is what I am writing today. ______________________________________ I did not write this bio and I am not nearly as serious as my photo suggests.

What's New? (life, with pictures!!)

Rate: 19 Flag

I'm not writing much these days.  Sometimes my creativity takes me in other directions. Sometimes it goes on holiday. *shrug*  I never really worry about it, I just keep moving.

Last week, I dug a hole; a really big hole.

  really big hole

Then I moved some rocks; lots & lots of rocks.

pond2

even more rocks

Then I added water and these guys... a couple of friendly gargoyles.

one spits, the other just sits

I built the entire thing by myself.

penn
This guy, our new rescue puppy was no help at all.

I moved and piled rocks, added some flowers and plants. I formed a small waterfall shape and added a pump ; arranging and rearranging rocks  like some back-breaking game of  jenga... but still very zen (chop wood carry water).

Today I was going to add fish, but got distracted by a poem about stars thats beginning to form in my head.

Funny how that works...

Very pretty Lorianne, thanks for popping are you still jewelry firing too?
Like the gargoyles they make for quiet friends around the pond.
Great stuff... my kid started one of those in his backyard... lost interest and $10,000 later the place looks great. Congrats on your follow through! Looks fantastic.
Rita - i am still fiddling with fire and making jewelry when the spirit moves me. i wish i was in that writing zone a bit more... so i could sit with my dogs & my gargoyles by my pond and just write!

jmac - thanks... follow through is a polite way to describe my slightly schizoid pinpoint focus once i start a project. thanks for that. & thanks for visiting!
Hey, I got one of those spitting gargoyles too. I did my pond the lazy way - used an old zinc tub just sitting above ground and got a couple of friends to pile rocks around the outside. Not nearly as cool as yours!
YOU dug a hole? Ha... how very monumental!

OK now... stars eh.

Bring it
Nice job... Looks great!

Not just a big hole. A heart-shaped big hole.
I think your creativity shines. ~r
Myriad - i found that spitty gargoyle ages ago at a goodwill store as i recall. i had absolutely no use for him at the time, but how could i possibly pass him up? ... and if you got someone else to move the rocks, i think your method was far superior to mine.

Trig! - and i didnt break a single fingernail! 'magine that.

Larry - i adnt noticed it was heart shaped till you pointed it out... so it is, so it is. the size, depth & shape of the thing was mostly determined by the gawd-awful had as cement, bedrocky ground... and where the pipes for the sprinkler system were 'discovered'... but i'm glad it turned into a heart. cool beans!

joan - thanks girlie. i was momentarily feeling your pain the day after all the rock moving. lawd! get better soon.
I am extremely impressed with your strength. I could never do this. I'm probably twice your age with neck and back troubles. Good for you. It's beautiful./r
christine - i doubt that you are twice my age and even if you are or are not ..you look FABulous . i am over 50 and sometimes feel every single one of my years... and sometimes not. last week was a good week... an unusual window of feeling strong.
You ROCK! I love your pond and that you did it by yourself incredible!
whoo, a pond! and lots and lots of rocks. i saw those hands in a pic, girl, and meant to ask: why no gloves?? you did a great job on the design and lugging and placing and replacing. (can you tell i've done something that involved a lot of rocks?) and the gargoyles are the best, way high on my faves list. throw some mosquito fish in there and you're done. terrific work!
lunchlady - thanks so much. i do love it.

candace - yeah, i'm not a fan of gloves. dunno why, they just bug me when i wear them. yes! placing...replacing...moving & fitting each rock... yikes right?
Lorianne,such a creative work here,well done,rated!!
Looks like a wonderful creation of well used artistic ability to me Lorainne. Also I great place to sit and just be....

You rock woman!!
and move them too...
I hope you can lay down in it on a hot night for awhile & see stars.

Fiercely good-looking hound, there.
Beautiful pond, cute puppy. Isn't it so much nicer having done it all yourself.
Very nice pond!

Fish - if there are outdoor cats around, they will learn where to get a fresh fish dinner pretty quickly (the voice of experience).

- Mark
Build it and they will come.......frogs, that is. And then blue herons to eat the frogs and fish...what have you unleashed...cute dog by the way. R
STATHI - thanks so much!

mission - that is the plan... a place to just be yup .

kim - he is indeed turning out to be a fine fine hound along with our other scruffy mutt rescued last year. His buddy is Teller so this guy is of course Penn... they are both quite amusing.
Loriannnnnnne! I install koi ponds both professionally and as a hobbyist, and yours is absolutely kick ass. That rescue pup is pretty damn cute too even if he's not much help digging holes.
phyliss - i had offers of help which i declined for just that reason. i wanted to know i did it myself!

mark - thanks! there are a few feral cats in the area along with the occasional bobcat or mountain lion...but a good fence and a couple of scruffy dogs should keep them at bay. i mean look at him...doesnt he look fierce?

Gerald - thanks for stopping by. a friend has a koi pond that is regularly visited by heron. i think (hope) mine is too small to attract them... but frogs would be welcome...they could hang out with the lizards!
nananananananana! - you do this for fun & profit? you sir are quite mad!

i confess that the rock moving and stacking was NOTHING compared to the hole digging... that was grueling. the original plan was for a larger/deeper pond, but my home is built on the edge of a canyon, on bedrock. the ground was so tough i actually broke the head off a pick axe!

if i ever kill someone, you can rest assured i will NOT be burying them in the back yard. i have dug the last hole i shall dig. :)
Ex-pro here too. Agree with nanatehay. Give yourself a ribbon. Nice.
I am amazed, you did a wonderful job here..lovely place for you to go to reflect. It is so beautiful!
Pretty. But don't forget the fish - two or three goldfish at least - or the mosquitoes will invite all of their relatives to visit for the summer.
