The 80's Femmemullet (for Rita)

Rate: 26 Flag

Sitting on the back of the toilet in front of my Missing Persons poster which was hanging in the Tower Records on Hollywood Blvd, a gift from a guy who was working there the day I went to see Toni Basil in the parking lot. Vintage suit and check out the curl on the forehead, way hot!

Standing up posing like mannequins before a night at the Roxy or Rainbow Bar & Grill next door. Yay for the Rainbow and not having to hide in the bathroom to toke. Yay for pale make up and heavy blush!

A gift for K's daddy, a photo of us with Santa. What else do you get the man who owns his own professional basketball team? Nasty girl dresses, more than one team was going to be at the Christmas party. Professional athletes have the best evah party supplies!

A more casual look, K's outfit was from Rodeo Drive, the world famous red animal print spandex sleeveless unitard and black satin blazer were strictly K-Mart. Tres chic!

You waited for it, and here it is, the big fuzzy femmemullet...

Rita, I hope you're laughing your butt off!

I'm not laughing, Bleue ... but have a big smile on my face! A damn big smile! : )
You rocked the whole way through.
Good lord woman, you were the 80s epitomized!
Totally awesome pics! Rock the 80s!
Hahaha! Working in the fashion industry I went through all phases except the Madonna bras and tulle skirts.

That hideous unitard was the most comfortable item of clothing I've ever owned, but it wasn't easy to use the restroom.
Femmemullet - great word L'Heure. You should get it registered or something. Fun pics.
My younger daughter is a hairdresser, femmemullet is her word. We're in Idaho so she had to learn to cut mullets even though she was little in the 80's. She says it's two hair cuts and resents getting paid for only one, along with the obvious other problem of having her name attached to them.

I shoulda kept the frightening unitard. Sigh...
Oh my! Fabulous hair I never achieved in the eighties! Awesome pics.
There is a certified Santa School in Indiana.

If your certified BONKERS You get paid well.

My granddaughter will love this post. I'll share.
I showed a three year old scanner's `Betsy cow.

You help take away soreness of the human heart.
You can go into a garden and eat cabbages raw.
You don't have to eat raw red beets with a spoon.

John Keat's poem comes to mind - pardon me . . .
he wrote he `pray pardon me - I can't smile . . .
but that was in the context of that day of bass -
Monstrous beast in human form who hurt folk.
`
I smile.
He wrote mankind acts like a ape `twixt Plato
and he mocked those rich who wear beaver hat.
Act as a beast.
We smile.
Thanks
`
He wrote of wonderful Places too - where a monk
and a Fool!
both reside.
ay good fun,
and nonsense,
and merge two -
emotions both -
sad and joy too -
`
Welcome Joy
and Welcome
Sadness.

P.S.
You make me
consider gig
as a Santa

OMG these are so wild and wonderful. Thanks for sharing them here.
Oh the are GREAT! Bleue I am supposed to be sick but couldn't sleep all night anyway Friday night, last night I crashed and didn't get on ( I know wonders never cease) but I missed your Fuzzy Mullet and the Tiger Print Spandex! They definitely win some sort of OS Eighties Prize. Hilarious and thanks for playing1!
I love the pose in the first one!
You have great legs! And honey, you have Rodeo drive beat by a mile.
"World famous" indeed. Funny captions.
Holy Crap what 80's goodness. Toni Basil had nothing on you except maybe a more spicy name. And, the blonde man is so 80's too. Only the small child and mabye the santa is of another time. The panelling and the too long short sleeves!!
Love it! Now I have Tony Basil's Hey, Mickey in my head...
Quintessential '80's! Love it! ~r
Rita, when I succumb to fashion, I want it to be bad fashion! With any luck this year there will be hats adorned with dishware and I can find a beret with a tea cup on it. I'm doing my part to keep us laughing during times we want to cry, part of the old me I'd like to revive.

Thanks everyone, I re-read all comments and the new ones and laughed. I'm heading back to my parents house today. The hospital bed was delivered and we're still putting things in order. Please forgive me but while I'm resting, I'd rather read other posts than reply on mine.
Your eyes are bewitching & lovely, under whatever hair .
They bespeak a great soul, which we already knew
anyway...agreed re. the legs, too...
You are one photogenic gal.
In any decade.
Your hairstyles may have changed, but your looks haven't, l'Heure. Still as lovely as before.
Wow, what a blast from the past...you were very cool looking back then, L'heure, but I do love your long hair and even more lovely face now.
Thanks for the funny comments to go with each pic too, those place each shot in its world...
I'll stop the world and melt with you!
Oh my...I think I still have some of those outfits. Didn't know they were outdated! :)
You are foxy in all of them. I just wish I remembered the eighties.
Well, what can I say? . . . . . Other than I am impressed.
