Picture of a girl up to no good. I love Friday's at my job. I'm surrounded by a staff that is way more wicked and tired than the students they teach. Fridays are no holds barred shenanigans. Card games, pranks and bad, very bad emails. Today's email theme was pirate pick up lines.
1) Can I help you loosen your rigging
2) Anchors away matey
3) Hoist the main sail
4) I’m at full mast
5) There she blows!
6) Can I swab your deck
7) Can I see the crows nest
8) You shiver me timbers
9) Do you prefer aft or starboard
10) Should I blow the fog horn
To which my response was, "I'd totally walk YOUR plank."
Makes the day go quicker.
So, tonight is knitting. I've got to get to the gym. Law and Order is almost on and that makes the time fly on the treadmill. I'm hoping to finish the voodoo scarf tonight and have show and tell tomorrow. I can't find your brain, but I bet I could knit one.
Love you Puggles,
L
so excited to be here today. It's been raining for two days; the ground looks like sodden Fruity Pebbles. I had a good session yesterday. After about 20 minutes of cooing over Calexico (and I'm still riding the wave today la la la!), we talked about the work situation. I needed strategies for disengagement. The one that's working well is to think of the faculty as characters and don't worry about taking responsibility for anything except my own job. I think writing the mystery novel is the solution, since I don't have a warrior of my own. It makes things seem very bland here, and I guess that's what I need. One of the things I love about Libby is that she's also a trained concert pianist and she totally understands when I talk about art and the creative process. I feel really lucky to have her. Other than that, just counting the hours till 5:00. I have to be here all morning tomorrow for open house, but I think I need the comp hours to replace the ones spent at the conference in NY and the ones I'll be spending at the CBAA conference in January. I'm headed to Trader Joe's early on Sunday morning. Woo-hoo! A lot of money just walked out the door - conference fees, groceries, bills. Onward and upward.
I haven't yet mentioned the opening act for Calexico, which was great. The band is named The Acorn and they're out of Ottawa. A lot of good music seems to be coming out of Ottawa lately. Also, when Burns was warming up, he was playing blues riffs. I wonder if the next album will incorporate more blues, or more jazz. I can't wait to find out. I really miss seeing live music. I'd go with you whenever you wanted. I wish we lived closer!
Did you know Calexico is coming to the Metro on the 21st? Maybe you and Captain Cookie need to go. In regard to yesterday's discussion, does that make me a trumpet strumpet? Oy. Here's a wish I'm putting out to the Universe: I think it would be great if, when I'm in Sweden, they play and I go to the concert. How's that for a manifestation? Of course, right now, please help me manifest a better position. That's objective #1.
How's the voodoo yarn going? Did you find a pattern yet? Could you find my brain? My patience? The rain is soothing - we've even had thunderstorms, and they're supposed to continue through tomorrow.
Misses and pugs,
xoL.
