( The wind was onshore ...)

Asked what was in the little basket he said to someone downstairs,
"Some chocolates, and a get-well card."
Sometimes ... it is a silence ...
that ...
speaks far more eloquently ...
than any sound we can ... imagine ...

and then perhaps ... its beauty ...
always and forever ... here ...
greatest healing ... of all ...

So poignantly lovely ... this
Quietly eloquent.

Love the colors.

:-)

... & who knows where it lands ?
Wish I could jump into the picture... ~r
Looks so hopeful
or perhaps bittersweet
a photo with a story
sometimes things are so much
better
left unsaid.
Beautiful and full of hope, wonder where it ended up. ~R
You're very welcome, Joan :-)

Rita, I guess we'll make of it what we will.
A waitress downstairs asked him about the little basket.
She, like I, had been watching & intrigued.
He got into an old Volkswagen & drove away.

Shutterbug, keep an eye out ...
:-)
Kim Etc., I'll never ever catch up.
There's mucho inspiration Here.
I was gonna just peek and leave.

I saw mhold's comment. Sigh.
Her last Post is Titled ` Gone.
I wish She's ride in my ` P.U..

We make up rules ` Silence.
She and Others can Coo Coo.
Be a Murmuring Dove` Bird.
We'd eat kale. Total ` Silence.
If Ya Love? Eat corn ` Quietly.

Today I m farmer ` Errand Boy.
I'll pickup in my P.U. Supplies.

I always take my good-old- Leisure time.
If I go into PA? Bankers may arrest hicks.
I swear, DoJ? What is it good for? Zilch.
I wish I could lug homemade ice cream.
A local Creamery is beginning ice cream.

Calm.
Witness the ripples on water surfaces.
You experience a sense you go floating.
Honest.
I murmur out loud things other know.
I'll try to eat ice cream in total Silence.
On a related note, I went to the cemetary on Father's day. A young man arrived in an old car and walk to the middle of the graveyard holding a pair of small sneakers (woman's). He placed them on a grave and sat there anguished for awhile and then left.
Tastefully conveyed, Kim. Thank you.

O, rita.

Incredible picture Kim.
Re: Your comment... It is the gift we would all like to receive. And even more so, the gift we would like to give...arriving in a cloud of blue balloons.
A sí full of sunrise ~
is much needed by me on a daily basis.
Love the tone on tone with the balloons, sky, water and jacket...a jump across the color wheel with the peninsula (I'm guessing), sky and sea in the distance.
A peninsula that feels so familiar, it's been the star so often around this place of yours.
Funny, silly guy with good intentions, sending the chocolates and card aloft to the sea instead of arriving at her (his?) door...
Oh.
It just occurs.
Maybe there is no one to give them to except the sea and sky.
I do hope that's not so and he is just a silly, funny guy...
Perhaps it's a gift to the sky.
Even in the silence ... your sea ... breathes ... its life ... to me ...
This seems as much about impermanence as silence–balloon, man, island, sea. I recently saw a movie where people wrote things about love on paper balloons that were carried aloft by a flame at the base, like small versions of hot air balloons. They gained a fair amount of height, then burned up against the night sky.
WHERE'S THE POST???? (bellowing)
Ande thank you for a lovely comment, too :-)

Thanks Bernadine !

Yes, catch-22 ~ & how to start the day.

Sheila, I hope it lands in your garden.

Just Thinking thank you, I think he's probably just a funny, silly guy, but he knew which way the wind blew ~ it rose & headed inland, over his head & west.
People have to be careful about balloons & the sea, because of seals & pelicans & such ...

Gail, perhaps it was ; he chose the right colours :-)

Perhaps it found you, anna1liese.

I'm glad, Erica. Thank you.

That's a beautiful image, greenheron ~ thanks for that ~ like this fellow's gift, it fires the imagination, only in a night-time way ...

You'd be great to watch one of those sensitive, dreamy French movies with, Margaret. At the moment when she turns, all dappled in Autumn sunlight & sees our soldier not dead after all but standing on the wet platform gazing at her I could count on you to yell, "Where's the friggin' popcorn ?!"
How cool to read *some people* get how dangerous balloons can be to the wildlife...
I haven't been around to write at all, but I've missed you here, just the same... I will assume this means Life is busy and good with you.

You watch sensitive dreamy French movies?
I'd love to watch them with Margaret as her bellow about the popcorn might wake me up.
Dates tried to ply me with those snoozers, once upon a time...trying to catch me off guard (yeah, it took me awhile to catch on to what a 'good' guy is)...
I'm sure with the right good guy, they're wonderful films.
Not sure I'll ever know as Husband tends to run unless there's a motorcycle chase, preferably more than one, in a film.
*sigh*
Such troubles : )
I feel for you, Just Thinking :-)
I watch those movies for the music ...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DEyJguSEEfY&feature=related
~ that one's got some very sexy cars in in it, just sayin'
;-)
& no, I haven't been around much, here or the Other Place ... life's ... busy ... there's that about it ...
( There's another trailer for the film above, with a dog on a beach, ( & a Mustang ) but I couldn't see it to check the visuals ~ beautiful piece, from memory. Even Margaret would pay attention, I think. )
The sea. Sigh.... From whence I just returned. The same water that touches us all. Beauty in us flows and remains.
Wow! wonderful Kim
" ... life's ... busy ... there's that about it ..."

Those dot dot dots say a lot.
Or they allow my mind to fill in in all kinds of ways.
Only replied to 'busy'.....hmmm.

Possibly, it's similar here then.
"...busy....there's that about it..."

Yeah.

At least you must be planning your getaway I'm still jealous about...

I'll send the link to Husband, far, far away....and will confess I still would fall asleep. Any movie, mostly.
But a fire? I can sit still for ages and love every minute.
???

I hope "good" enters with all kinds of flamboyance soon.
Hi Mission ~ good to see you !
thanks & I'm glad you're getting wet :-)

What an interesting photo, Kim. It begs all sorts of questions ... but pondering in the silence to oneself leads to all sorts of imaginings!

Wonderful are those imaginings!
i like what gail walter said. and heron (i saw the same movie). i think i sort of hope what's in the little basket (i think it's a message, for some reason) just keeps going - 'out there,' as it were, that it's not intended for one person or even one place but for everyone, everything. maybe it's "be nice." that would be good, don't you think?
p.s. i love the water and its colors.
5 days to lift-off, JT. That will be "Good," but even better will be seeing our old mate from Chicago again, the night before we go.
3 old farts wandering the Kimberley, looking for clues :-)
If I find out about anything at all, be sure I'll let you know ...

Thanks, Algis. You shouldn't have. No, really. You shouldn't have. :-)

Hi Kate, it's been ages !
I peeked at your beautiful grandmotherly poem earlier ~ made me smile ~ I'll be back.
Letting our minds wander :-)

Candace.
You too, it feels like ages.
I like what they said too, & I like your idea ... though, "be nice" mightn't be enough ...
I'm thinking the opening scene of Enduring Love, only in reverse, and with a young girl, maybe seven, running barefoot through the grass across a field to catch the basket as it gently descends ...
( cue Ennio Morricone )
& inside,
all fluffy & bewildered,
a tiny,
tiny
kitten ...
Kim, this is a true dreamlike creation, one of the ones I would have wanted to have made myself, cause the combination of the innocent child, sending his wishes, prayers, fears, loves as ballons to the sky, in such an outer silence, is so strong both in symbolism and in our everyday visual needs.

Your work, also, gives the measures of life...human and sky...child and life... I trully loved this one, full of colours and symbolisms...in silence of our wishes and prayers we all live!!!

Rated, with many, many, many thank you for this!!!!
Thank you, Stathi, for the idea & the challenge.
This was truly yesterday, knowing I hadn't written here much at all, lately, I was glad to catch his moment to share.
I think his balloons have travelled even further than he dreamed possible ...
:-)
That's the same lovely little peninsula from 'Painting Dawn', I do believe. Is this part of a bigger picture? It doesn't look like a photo, it looks like a painting.

JT, I think the guy in the picture looks just the opposite of silly and funny. It's not what's in the box that's important, it's the balloons. He's taking a huge risk sending those balloons across the open sea, hoping they'll make it to her (it's a her). See how high he's reaching. And then there's the colors: blue = hope, violet = love. He's putting it all out there, throwing caution to the wind.

I think he's old-fashioned too (are those lines telephone wires, Kim?)

I must confess, I've never seen a dreamy French movie. But if I did, I would not yell for the popcorn. I'm an annoying person to watch movies with. I talk through them. And I ask a lot of questions. Like, "would you explain to me what he meant by that." And, "could you please rewind that because I didn't quite get what he said." "One more time, please." "Just once more, I promise!!!"

Also, I don't understand French. But I don't mind subtitles. In fact, I love them. I watch English movies with English subtitles. So I don't miss anything.

And - did watch the clip & did pay attention.
It has been a while, Kim.

You made me smile too. Thanks, buddy.
Reading through so many thoughts ...

Could he possibly have imagined ... and, as you say, Kim, who knows where ... yet ... from this silence ... from this moment ... by your sea ... captured here and shared by you ...

how many more dreams ... have been sprung ...

If you have time ... between your yesterday ... and your tomorrow ... now so near ...with your friends ... wandering ... enjoying each other’s being there ... knowing joy as, together you will find so much ... more dreams, perhaps ... for all of you ...

come back once more ... and see the beginnings of how far ... you have helped this one dream ... travel ... on ...

dreams of joy ... and may they follow ... you ...
[r] such a compelling photo, and a photo with a provocative story within it. so love the vertical scope of it, it enhances that balloon upward feel. There is a sense of a possible storm in the background and the promise of wind which adds to the literal atmosphere and the story line and the imagined destiny of the balloon package. amazing capture of a moment! best, libby
I rated this yesterday. It looks like a joyous person until I read your comments, and then it's sad. But all of this is projecting, yes?, because I really don't know anything except it's a guy with some balloons which are usually a happy thing to have. It is a pretty picture; I love the pink water.

Hope life finds you well.
Kim.
Kim.
Have a great time, k?
(...an extra 'Kim' got in there -- oops...)
...and I did check out the link to your friend's webpage awhile back -- cool to see -- clearly he loves his visits to your part of the world : )
I liked the aboriginal influences...
Silence ...
and all it holds ...
in a silence ...
all its own ...
How bizarre to turn on news clips this evening and hear about the humpback whale that the Manly Ferry, Collaroy, injured! The whale's okay, it seems...bad gash...
The world gets smaller and smaller.
Yes, I did giggle a bit as I could not hear 'Manly Ferry' without also hearing Margaret's observation in my head about manly fairies...
Oddly, to me, that picture is full of sounds. Wet, flapping, lush, waves and sighs, deep sighs, sea gulls and distant leaves.
Sometimes ...
silence's ...
greatest gifts ...
pause ...
reflection ...
dreams and ...
beauty and ...
hope ...

am grateful for ...
the silence ...
here ...
Margaret, yes, the same peninsula. Those are telegraph wires.

Hi Kate,

Hi anna1liese.

Thanks, libby.

Glad you enjoyed, Phyllis.

Been, gone, back, Just Thinking. Pictures soon.
The whale recovered, I heard, & went on it's way.
I think it was tgwithin who said he thought he was the only Manly Ferry around here ;-)

Hi Oryoki.

Sorry I haven't been more around ... nice to be back.
So lovely and wistful.

(welcome back)
Glad with DiBi ... to have you ... back ...
here ... especially ...
Hi DiBi,
anna,

backson wol.
Sometimes, dare I say, in the cacophony of chaos ...
as seems to be our steady companion here these days ...
it is the stillness ...
the calm ... the silence ...
that allows breath ...
becomes our balm ...

Somehow when all else seems to fall away ...
it is the stillness and the silence ...
the possibility of dreams and hope ...
that reach out and hold us ...
lift us ...
bring us back to all that matters ... in our hearts ... most of all ...

silent wonder ... lovely this ... your gift of peace ...
oh the things you help us see ...
Oh, how refreshing this feels to me!
Hey, balanceline ~ sorry I missed you. Glad you enjoyed !
Somehow now, I know how this man feels, putting a lifeline, a sign, a beacon, a thought out over the ocean and hoping with the heart of the naive it is found and received.
Silence ... how I love this ... always I have loved this sea ...
the hope it brings ... to me ...
always perhaps ...
as I read Rita's words ... the hope of a naive ... heart ...
even in silence ... may our hopes ... be known ...
Sending my balloon across the Pacific, across the silence.

Not the same without you here, Mr. G. :-(
Well thanks ; still here :-)
