Actor Sherman Hemsley has passed away. Even though his most memorable role was as the Napoleonic George Jefferson in the All in the Family spin-off comedy The Jeffersons, he had an incredible career with many other good performances.

He had supporting roles on episodes of The Incredible Hulk, Fantasy Island, The Love Boat, the 1980s Twilight Zone, 227, Designing Women, Hangin' with Mr. Cooper, and Family Matters.  He made me laugh out loud on The Jeffersons and his other semi-hit show Amen. He did voice-over work on Dinosaurs and Family Guy and had recurring parts on The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Sister Sister, and The Hughleys.

One of my favorite performances of his was when he portrayed the villainous Toyman on Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman.

He was a talented actor who brought energy and humor to every show on which he worked. May he rest in peace.
